Welcome to the Artist's Penthouse, a stunning 1400 square foot retreat that comfortably sleeps six. This private, fully furnished two-bedroom, two-bath haven boasts breathtaking ocean and city views from the master bedroom, living room, and kitchen.
Step out onto one of the two decks for some fresh air—one located off the living room and the other an exclusive escape off the master bedroom. Both have expansive views of Catalina Island, downtown San Clemente and on really clear days San Clemente Island.
The penthouse features two smart TVs and panoramic WIFI that easily accommodates streaming, gaming, and more, ensuring a strong and reliable connection.
The fully stocked kitchen is equipped with a gas stove top, microwave, oven, refrigerator with ice maker, and a Nespresso machine for your coffee delights. Cozy up by the fireplace or cook up a feast with our gas grill.
Adorning the walls, the displayed art is created by talented local artists as well as the hosts themselves, adding a personal and creative touch to the space.

It was absolutely the perfect choice for our 5 day stay!Lisa and Russell were gracious hosts, welcoming us with a Goody Snack Basket. Russell met us at check in, and Lisa checked in with us several times during our stay.The Penthouse is bright and airy with spectacular panoramic views of the coast! Location is convenient to beaches and great restaurants.We hope to return one day!

Our family had an incredible stay at this gem of a place overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. The hosts were extremely accommodating and provided extra amenities we didn’t expect. The place was quiet and clean. It was nice to have our dog with us for a nominal fee. The rooms were big and we were very comfortable! Being able to walk downtown was an added bonus. We would definitely stay here again!

THIS is the place!
This place is fantastic! The views are everything - plus the space is large and the hosts are so helpful. It's clean, with a well-stocked kitchen. There's pretty much everything you could need for your visit - including beach chairs & other equipment. Relax on the deck, lounge on the big indoor couch, walk to downtown & the beach. If you want to stay in San Clemente, you'll be happy with this place. A great value.

This property is everything a VRBO should be with one exception. Not sure I would expect the $1M view that this property has. A deck overseeing the ocean with an incredible setting for watching a sunset with a glass of wine and a book. Lisa and Russell are the most outstanding hosts and makes it hard to see them as hosts. They treat you as family or visiting friends. They receive you like family. They have a lot of extra touches that make you feel like family. But what makes this home so wonderful is after a long day out, you feel like you come home at the end of the day. Thanks Lisa and Russell for sharing your home with us.

Lisa was in communication from the time I booked. Russell met us when we arrived to walk us through the property. The views from the deck out at the ocean were breathless, the sitting area was amazing for a great visit. The kitchen table was perfect for Lego assembly after a day at Lego land. The location is great to hit all the attractions within an hour. Highly highly recommend!!!

Wow! Just wow. The rental property was the epitome of under promising and over delivering. Exceeded all expectations. Amazing views of the water from most windows and balcony's. Two separate bathrooms both very orderly and accommodating. They gave us free snacks, drinks, even wine! Very much worth the money! Won’t stay anywhere else in San Clemente again haha!

Top Notch Artists Penthouse
No A/C needed in this stunning ocean view rental. Ocean breezes and ceiling fans in every room make way for just about anyone to get a delightfully restful nights sleep. Beds are super comfortable and rooms are very large with large closets as well. Bathrooms are exceptionally clean and stocked with just about everything and anything you may have forgotten. The entire penthouse is tastefully decorated with local artistry and the likes of the towns historic district. The views are spectacular from the large front deck as well as the master bedroom deck. Privacy and security were never a concern for us and we even had a parking spot in the driveway. However, this property is so close to the main park of town, restaurants, San Clemente Pier and beach that we mostly walked to our destinations and didn’t have much need for a car when we were hanging out in downtown San Clemente. The kitchen is beyond stocked and could be considered chef friendly, so we loved having the capability to host many meals and had several BBQ’s with friends on the front deck that provided ample seating for us all. The stunning sunsets had us mesmerized at the end of every day and we often tried to get home beforehand to witness and enjoy the compelling beauty of the Artist’s Penthouse. We really can’t say enough about the quality and beauty this property blessed us with. The Artists Penthouse is like staying at a private residence at the Ritz Carlton, but better!! We will certainly be returning soon!

Lisa and Russell are the most generous hosts, so communicative and flexible! The Artist’s Penthouse is such a beautiful place, we really enjoyed our time here, including our dog! The apartment was very clean and inviting, so many windows to oversee the amazing ocean - we especially loved the patio! The beach is about one mile away, so is the cute downtown area! Many great restaurants and shops! Definitely stay here on your next CA vacation!! :)

We had such a wonderful time staying with Lisa and Russell. The artist's penthouse was absolutely beautiful. It clean and every attention to detail was appreciated. The artwork and sculptures added so much character. The outside deck provides a view of san clemente and dana point that you just can't beat. The beds and couch were comfortable and the kitchen provided everything we needed. They even welcomed us with a gift basket! Thank you Lisa and Russell! We can't wait to visit again!

Perfect
Stop reading this review and book the Artist's Penthouse NOW! This was a last minute trip, so my husband and I thought we'd just book a hotel for ease. I can't tell you how thankful we are that we re-thought that plan. For less than the price of a nice hotel room, we had a large, well-appointed home with a killer deck and too many amenities to name. Russ and Lisa even include the use of the washer and dryer. If you're looking for luxury on a limited budget, you've found it. These folks are insanely accommodating, and just plain awesome. Aside from all the unexpected things like a beautiful gift basket, there were also super helpful small touches like a folder full of local menus and cozy blankets for sitting by the fountain outside. If I could've found a way to haul the ridiculously comfortable living room sofa back to Texas, I definitely would've tried to buy it from them! Get this place now before someone else does. You won't be disappointed.

Penthouse Heaven!
We stayed over Thanksgiving with four "adult" children, and the penthouse was easily large enough to accommodate all of us. The double sink in the public bath made sharing the space easier. Beyond that, the views are simply spectacular. The private balcony off the master gave us a chance to lounge without company, and the large deck overlooking the town and ocean was perfect for playing Scrabble, eating dinner, and sharing a bottle of wine. Lisa and Russ met us upon arrival, and immediately responded to our questions about grocery stores, shopping, and beaches. We used the beach towels, umbrella, boogie boards, and cooler - and found the local beach to be our favorite. The kitchen was well stocked, making meals here a breeze. We have never booked the same property twice for travel, but this might be the exception!

Peaceful, uplifting, energizing retreat
I am so glad we found Russ and Lisa's property! The Artist's Penthouse is just what we needed, and it was perfect inside and out. You walk up the stairs, open the barn style door, enter the balcony and face a breathtaking, panoramic view of the ocean -- this is the go to place of the day. We had coffee, wine and conversation in this remarkable and well appointed outdoor space. We watched the sun rise and set, gazed at the starry night and cuddled up in the blankets to stave off the late summer chill. The inside space is tastefully artsy and warm; it felt like home. Wonderful music filled the air when we arrived, luring us inside ... where we found a welcome basket filled with goodies and a bottle of wine waiting for us! In our 10 years of being VRBO renters, this was a first! The kitchen was clean, and full of everything you need, including coffee to get the morning started. The sofa in the living space is great -- I think we sat 10 people around it comfortably. Bathrooms were spotless, loads of extra linens and towels, comfy beds and windows galore that allowed for more ocean views from inside. For beach goers, there are beach chairs, games and a boogie board. To top everything off, Russ and Lisa are onsite, and getting to know them is delightful. If we lived closer, I would pursue a great lifetime friendship with these two! If you're thinking about renting this VRBO, don't hesitate, snag it now. The Artist's Penthouse is a GEM.

Fabulous property, fabulous owners and a magical view !
My husband and I just returned from our amazing stay at Lisa and Russell's exceptional condo that we loved! It's better than in the pictures, and from the minute you open the door, a calmness takes over and it feels better than even being at home! The view is magical, the deck is so perfect for an afternoon or evening glass of wine, and the inside is equipped with everything you'll ever need for your vacation stay or extended stay. We use VRBO everywhere we travel and this is definitely one of the top and favorite one of ours. The only thing that can top how perfect the accommodations are, are the owners Lisa and Russell, who are very generous, and I felt like we've known them forever. Thank you both (and thank you to your daughter as well). We were blessed to find not only your place, but you. Thank you again for the lovely bottle of wine and birthday card that you so kindly left for me. That was very very special! We will definitely see you both again!

Perfect Spot!
The Artists Penthouse is the perfect spot to relax and take in beautiful views of the Pacific ocean and sunsets! The accommodations were ideal for us and our 2 teenagers. Wonderful Stay
Had a great time visiting San Clemente with our two teens. Views from the balcony are to die for and the location is close to the main street where there are a number of great restaurants. Lisa, Russel and their daughter were the perfect hosts and they have put a lot of care and thought into creating the Artist Penthouse. Beautifully decorated and maintained it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the local attractions.

A Room with a View
I should say a penthouse with many views. This place is so enchanting. My husband and I have stayed in wonderful places all over the world, and this one would rate in the top. The setting is lovely overlooking the city of San Clemente and the ocean. Beautiful sunsets seen from a cozy comfortable deck with its trickling fountain. The penthouse is filled with beautiful art. Everything you need has been taken care of by Lisa and Russ, the friendly helpful hosts. San Clemente is a delightful city with many quaint restaurants and shops. There are many points of interest nearby. A drive along the Pacific coast is a must. I would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful Weekend Getaway!
We stopped off at the Artist Penthouse for a weekend getaway prior to my business trip in Laguna Niguel. What an amazing property ~ truly special! You could tell Lisa and Russ put so much love into this rental property! The apartment is beautifully decorated, and it was impeccably clean -- but the view from the deck were gorgeous! We prepared a few meals in-house and the apartment was equipped with everything we needed including an outdoor grill. Nothing like preparing a great meal and sitting on the deck with the beautiful view and a glass of wine! The area is safe and beautiful, we slept with the sliding glass doors wide open every night and were at peace. Beach, pier, restaurants, supermarket (Ralph's was the best, they sell wine/liquor) and shopping all within walking distance or a short drive. Perfect Ocean Getaway
We had a fantastic time at this San Clemente property. Our stay was perfect from start to finish! Upon arrival, we found a huge basket of goodies waiting for us along with sodas in the fridge. The owners were so hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. They truly are pet-friendly so we were able to bring our small dog with us on vacation. The house had all the comforts of home and more! The ocean breeze and view from the deck was amazing. Proximity to the beach, shopping, restaurants and grocery store was excellent. We only planned to stay for a few days and when it came time to leave we regretted not being able to stay longer. The home was the perfect size for our family of five (plus pooch). The neighborhood was quiet and relaxed. No noisy neighbors. We will be back for sure!!

The property is as described with an excellent view of the Pacific and the town in between.
We really enjoyed our stay in San Clemente at the Artist's Penthouse. It was just like home to us as we also have a great view where we live. Lisa was quite responsive and helpful with the logistics and was available for questions and excellent restaurant suggestions. The top three restaurants in town per TripAdvisor and Lisa are all within walking distance of the Penthouse although the jaunt home requires a bit of a climb. The apartment was well appointed with plenty of comfortable furniture inside and out, lots of extra towels and bedding if needed, all the necessary kitchen utensils and a large screen TV with all of the channels. When we come to CA we usually go on daily adventures (Festival of the Arts and Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach) and various hikes from Newport to San Clemente so we are usually only "home" in the evenings. However, on this trip we spent a lot of time outside on the balcony during the day where we had our choice of direct sun or not and it was very relaxing. The view of the ocean and the town is spectacular. After the first day of our five day stay we were already plotting our next trip and this is where we would stay - especially if we were traveling with another couple. There is plenty of privacy within the apartment as well as with the other two occupants of the building. The I-5 Freeway is just a few blocks away and can be a little noisy but we got used to it. All in all it was a great and refreshing trip.

Amazing views!
We had a wonderful experience at Lisa and Russell's Artist Penthouse. We were greeted by Lisa and immediately knew we had made a great choice. The warmth of her personality matched the warmth of the Penthouse. Beautifully decorated and spacious, it felt like a home. The deck had an incredible view of San Clemente and the ocean. Believe me when I say the pictures did not do it justice... this place was really nice! We enjoyed the beach community of San Clemente and it's eclectic restaurants , downtown, and pier. Also, for you craft brew lovers, two great breweries in San Clemente. We loved the area and it was nice to come back to our "penthouse" in the evenings to enjoy the incredible views (day and night)! Thanks very much Lisa and Russell... we hope to be back! :)
