This home for eight is just a block away from Santa Cruz's breathtaking West Cliffs, with gorgeous views of the Pacific and soft, golden-sand beaches only moments from your door. Spacious front and back yards give you all the room you need to relax in the sunshine after a morning by the sea.

Inside, wide windows and brightly colored walls give this home an open, energizing atmosphere that's perfect for a home base near the beach. Admire the hardwood floors and occasional potted plant as you head over to the sectional sofa or daybeds to relax. Wireless internet and a flatscreen cable TV make the living area a nice place to pass the time.

The kitchen is only a few steps away and boasts everything you need for cooking in its plentiful wooden cabinetry. Make use of the dishware and stainless steel appliances to whip up a delicious meal for your family and friends, which they can savor at the breakfast bar seats for four or table seating for six.

Great price and location but needs some TLC
We rented this place for our family getaway to the boardwalk and beach for my son’s birthday/graduation gift. I give our stay a 4 out of 5 because there were some areas of the home that could use some TLC. Likes: Location, big kitchen space, amount of beds, comfy couch, WiFi, Roku, laundry availability, ease of checkin, ability to check in early and communication with property management. Dislikes: outside area needs to be maintained and is not as pictures shown. There are high weeds all over back yard and front yard which took away the ability to let our toddler play outside at the home. The roses in driveway are over grown which made it hard to park two cars in the driveway. There wasn’t a fire pit like it said on the amenities list and was pictured in the ad. The cleaning could have been a little better. The floors, windowsills and showers could have used a little more love. Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the property management reaching out to us when we sent them our ratings. I truly hope they fix the few areas of concern.

Disappointing
For the good: The location is amazing. One block from walking along the coast and four blocks from great coffee shops, markets, etc. The bad: For dinner the first night I preheated the oven. When I opened, I was hit with a ton of massive chemical fumes from oven cleaner that had not been wiped out. The couch, as mentioned in a previous review, was incredible uncomfortable. The house is in need of serious TLC- mold on bathroom tiles, water spots on ceiling, etc. However, the biggest issue we had were ants- they appeared sporadically all along the baseboards, the bathroom tiles, etc. One of our party had them in their bed and when arriving home they were in some of the dopp kits. I called to let the company know and they asked for pictures then said it may be due to the weather. I understand that but we ended up leaving a day early, both due to the storm and one of our party had ants in their bed. With the amount we paid for this property, I was extremely disappointed.

Santa Cruz Getaway
This is an older property which is clear in the listing. The living room furniture is very old and soft. Hard to get out of and should be replaced. We were just there for Xmas and, unfortunately, the oven and stove went out; the microwave door did not work; the toaster oven was broken and we did not have instructions on how to access the laundry room. The next day a very competent handyman corrected all this except for the toaster oven. The walk along W. Cliff is beautiful and only a short block away. It generally worked for us with 6 adults and 1 kid 4 yrs. old and a baby. I would go there again if the furniture were updated.

We would definitely stay at this house again. Pro: The location is amazing. It is one block from West Cliff Dr, and one mile from Natural Bridges. There is lots of light and big rooms, a nice front and back yard. It is one story. It is close to restaurants and coffee shops. The kitchen is big and better supplied than earlier reviews mentioned. The washer and dryer are available, but you need to ask for a separate code for the door. There was plenty of space for 6 adults and two children to gather and to have private spaces. The beds are comfortable. There was plenty of parking. There is streaming services on the TV in the living room, but the DVD is only in the master bedroom. We would stay again. Con: This is definitely a beach house, not a resort. The couches are not very comfortable. The floors were dirty. There was a problem with the shower making it unusable, but they fixed it within one day. Bring your own shampoo and soap. The management was responsive to our issues.

Not well maintained, a bit run down, amenities were not sufficient., no laundry, no beach towels. Location was great. Unuseable back yard. Weeds galore, nowhere to put clothes. No hangers in closets. Nice kitchen,, and well appointed. No one answered our call about the A. c. Unit. Beds were comfortable. We had a good stay but needed to rely on relatives in the area for many basic items.

Great location and space
We enjoyed the house and yard very much for a family trip. The beds and furniture were comfortable and there were plenty of chairs for outdoor seating. Gorgeous walk to the cliff at the end of the road and not far away from great beaches and attractions. Check in and out was smooth.

Floors were dirty to walk on with bare feet. Plants/yards had not been kept up. Plants needed watering. Weeds everywhere. We could not use the back yard. No TV usage. Seniors like their news daily. The pictures led us to believe of a neat clean comfortable place to share time with the family.

We had many hairs all over the pillows and sheets. We sent pictures. Manager said her best housekeeper cleaned it. Doesn’t matter. She clearly didn’t change the sheets in the master bedroom. They offered $50 discount. Very disappointing. This is a spiking pandemic. No shame.

Great location
The size of the house interior is sufficient for entertaining a group and it’s walking distance from ocean, but not too close to crazy crowds of the boardwalk. The kitchen is not stocked well enough to entertain or feed a large group with very outdated cookware. Bring your own washcloths and towels because there was dirt on most of them. Beds are comfy but backyard leaves much to be desired. There is a grill but nowhere to put food or sit. None of the “solar” lighting out front is in working condition and there is no fire pit so after dark, although there are chairs, you can’t see anything. Again, could be a fabulous place if they would invest a bit in it. Manager took a while to return our call but once she did, she was very helpful.

My family of 5 stayed here for a week with plenty of room. The location is the main reason we got this place and the main reason we are leaving a good review. There was a little wait at check in since we had to wait 15 mins after check in time for the cleaning people to leave. Was disappointed that they spent so much time cleaning but it still didn’t feel super clean. Everything felt kinda grimey. The kitchen was great and the cleanest part of the house. Tv in living room had access to all different streaming services. Ocean is right down the street. Will probably be staying here again.

The house, property, and location were exactly as described and as expected. The ocean is just a block away, and it’s only a short walk to the beach. We loved our stay and would stay again. Our only complaint was concerning the cleanliness. The notices I received repeatedly stressed how focused they were on cleaning and sanitizing the house before our arrival. However when we checked in, there were several indicators that the house had not been thoroughly cleaned. There was a stack of towels on one bathroom floor and wet, used towels hanging in the other bathroom along with a wet, dirty bathmat at on the floor. The garbage cans in the bathrooms and kitchen were full and we ended up emptying them in the outdoor bin ourselves. The floors had clearly not been swept or mopped as there were crumbs and hair in each room.

Great location, house needs some upgrades
You can't beat the location of this house -- a short block to the West Cliff Drive pathway and a 5-minute drive (or 20-minute walk) to Natural Bridges Beach. Two parking spots in the drive and easy parking on the streets. We were wary because of previous reviews talking about poor cleaning and an ant issue. I contacted the management company in advance, and we didn't we any trace of ants at any point during our stay. The cleaning was great except for the floors, which were in need of attention still. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all really cute, with new-ish furniture and nice bedding, etc. -- the bathrooms look like they were redone fairly recently, and were great. The issue with this house is the furniture in the common rooms. The dining room chairs are beyond help and just need to be replaced ASAP -- the upholstery is so dirty and torn in spots and on of the chairs will practically land you on the floor if you sit on it. The couch in the living room is just as bad -- very old, very dirty (beyond cleaning, really -- you could tell that someone had tried) and so worn out that you can feel the springs and frame when you sit on it. These pieces just have to be replaced. Other than that, we found the house comfortable, but it also needs more cooking/baking equipment in the kitchen -- we couldn't even find a corkscrew! And no baking pans at all except for a broiler pan. With a few furniture upgrades and a better-stocked kitchen, this would be a place we'd rent again. Without those upgrades, I'd pass, even with the great location.

Great location; quiet neighborhood; spacious; very comfortable beds. Only suggestion for improvement--the kitchen--functional but needs updating. Cookware should be replaced and more glassware would be desirable. Also, as we were leaving, we discovered that the washing machine needed maintenance.

Home is in desperate need of cleaning and refurbishing
The location is wonderful (less than a two-minute walk to the West Cliff drive biking/walking path), and the neighborhood darling, but this review deals specifically with the condition of the home, which was abysmal. Our stay was from Friday March 1 to Sunday March 3, 2019. Within 30 minutes of arriving, our toddler granddaughters’ feet were covered in a thick, crusty black dirt from walking on the floors. It appears they have never been deep cleaned (read: WASHED). We ended up scrubbing the living room, hallway, bedrooms, kitchen/dining area, and bathrooms with hot water and a cleaning solution we went out and bought. The dining room chairs (covered in fabric) are broken and very dirty. We ended up using folding chairs (stored in the entry closet). The kitchen cabinets & drawers were dirty, but there was a vacuum cleaner available that we used to suck up spilled food & dirt. We washed four loads of pots, pans, glassware, silverware, serving utensils and dishes to make sure we were using clean items. Bring your own paper towels (only 1 roll available) and wash cloths (only 2 available). There are plenty of towels and water pressure/hot water plentiful. Living room furniture (sectional and settee) are very dirty and the sectional broken. The fireplace may be electric, but was not functioning. The ant problem covered by other reviewers is real. While both Friday and Saturday showed no signs of infestation, we woke Sunday to ants in the living room, master bathroom and kitchen. There is ant bait throughout the home, but it is not working. The home should be treated monthly by a professional exterminator. I paid for a late check-out on Sunday, but we vacated the property by noon because of the ants. Beds are decent, but one of the queen beds still had dirty sheets (which we washed). There is no fire pit in the front and the backyard is not usable although it has a large concrete patio. The pictures associated with this property are extremely misleading.

Great house for a 16th birthday party weekend. Steps from the ocean, quiet neighborhood, plenty of room for games and sleeping space for parents and two rooms of teens. Convenient location to all the downtown locations. Clean and well maintained. Front door doesn’t close without locking and is drafty—the only minor drawbacks.

Kitchen is dated but functional. Lighting for reading in living room and bedrooms need to be improved for reading. Back yard could use some improvement; currently not a place one would want to spend time. Side patio is functional. However, when there were some plumbing issues, we called the management company and Mary, who we spoke to, was excellent in response time and efficiency. Plumbers were out almost immediately and replaced garbage disposal and some other plumbing issues. Mary gets a big thumbs up!
