If you’re looking for a house with history, look no further! Located downtown in the heart of Savannah’s Historical District, this charming Savannah vacation rental comfortably accommodates up to four people and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1820 by John Ballon, a free man of color, the history of Freeman’s Cottage is detailed in the book "Savannah’s Little Crooked Houses: If These Walls Could Talk," by Susan B Johnson and published by the History Press, 2007.

Located downtown in the heart of Savannah’s Historical District, this charming Savannah vacation rental comfortably accommodates up to four people and features on-premise parking and a secluded garden patio. The beautiful wood used in the living area makes the space warm and inviting. Open to the kitchen, you’ll never miss a beat of the conversation. Enjoy a home cooked meal or leftovers from one of Savannah’s many fine dining establishments in the sunroom, where you’ll enjoy a view of the secluded garden patio. Rustic cottage with all expected amenities'. Great location with restaurants and tourist sites within walkable distance. Just used my car one day to go to the beach, otherwise car was left in the driveway. Communication with property management team was excellent. All communication was prior to check-in. No issues during stay.

Work conference/family vacation
Freeman’s cottage was perfect for my wife, our son, our dog, and myself for three nights. Convenient walk to shops on Broughton and quick access via car to events for work downtown. I would caution against adults with mobility issues accessing the loft for sleeping, that could be dangerous. Overall, a neat and comfortable experience with a lot of history built in to the space. Well done for a short stay.

Poor Management Company
Having us wait in our car versus sitting in the backyard courtyard while housekeeping was inside was a poor decision. Why couldn’t we sit in the backyard? Poor communication from management company. We were not in the house. Please pass this along to the actual owner as well.

This property was in a wonderful location of Savannah and walkable to so much. Very cute and comfortable place and the icing on the cake was the parking on the property. Perfect yard for pets also. We would recommend this place and would stay here again.

We had a fantastic day all the way from the ability to check in early for a small fee – thank you so much!, to being able to be responsive to any questions that we had about the property. This little cottage is absolutely adorable and perfect for a couple and or a few small dogs. The property management team was great. The location is only two blocks from the riverfront, an easy walk to most of the parks, and most of the better restaurants in historic Savannah. The property was well-kept and is neat as it is one of the historic properties While, this was no problem for us, I would make people aware that the best living arrangements are up a steep flight of stairs that are very safe and navigable, but are necessary to get around.

Beautiful historic property, ideally situated
Perfectly clean, well equipped property. Amazing that it is a historic landmark, 200 years old. Situated ideally in the Historic district to explore Savannah. Responsive property managers. Parking on site. Dog friendly, which is huge. Only comment is that the back yard could be improved, but this is minor given all the great places to go just minutes away.

Excellent Stay
We really enjoyed the Historic Cottage. The proximity to River street and downtown allowed us to walk to dinner, shopping and parks. The cottage was very clean and had a nice historic charm. Check in and out was uneventful. We enjoyed the private yard and loved that we had a place to park. The bedroom is upstairs and the steps are a little steep but they have rails. This is one of the better properties we have stayed at.

A Great Savannah Get-Away
This was a great little property conveniently located to so much. Nice little squares within a 1/4 block or so, and a quick walk to Emmet Park. The little courtyard was great for our furry family member, and the house was spotless. The stairs going up to the bedroom / loft are a little steep - but the entire cottage is a great little place to stay. Having a private parking spot also makes the stay easier. No having to look for a spot when you return from quick little jaunts to see other sites. Was a great fun four day - three nights with awesome memories made. The property was a great way to start and end the day!
