A little further from the center of attractions in downtown Savannah than many other chain hotels, but in a quieter location, set back from MLK Dr and very convenient to the Savannah Visitors' Center and trolley tour terminals. Attractive facility, friendly staff. CONS: Included breakfast is exactly like all other chain hotels, with a selection of items notable for high carb content, low in nutrients/fiber, with single serving milk, condiments, etc., and single-use foodwares generating unspeakable waste. DO NOT let them book you into a suite in the Cottages unless shaking walls and slamming entry doors in adjacent units won't bother you. Bathtub was extremely shabby, with degraded caulk and non-slip surface. In general, maintenance is not a priority at this location. We will not be back.

After Helene, I cancelled my December trip to this hotel. They still ran my card and put me as a no show. $300 gone and they won’t even cooperate with my booking agent. I cancelled and I still had to pay. This is ridiculous

The room was not cleaned on any of the days. The room smelled very strong of cleaning products. The room was not cleaned on the days we stayed, poor quality. I have stayed at the Residence Inn several times, and I intend to review it after this experience.

We went to Savannah for a 3 day family getaway during the holiday break. We picked the hotel because of the 1 bedroom option. Upon arriving to our room, it smelled like musty, old carpet and it felt like there was no air circulation. The sofa bed was a joke with a thin worn-out mattress. I reached out to guest services to ask to change rooms for two queen beds, but I was informed that they only had king suites with sofa beds. The next night, I reached out to ask about canceling the remaining two nights due to discomfort. We were told no refunds. We went out to buy a blow up mattress for our kids. The third day, after the continued musty smell, I asked for a different room and was granted one after explaining that we were being blasted by a Marijuana smell. The new room had two pillows for 5 people, so I asked for three more pillows so that my kids could have pillows. I was informed that the hotel had no pillows left. The uncomfortable beds, musty smells, dirty feeling rooms, and lack of enough breakfast foods for the hotel guests was completely unacceptable for a $300 a night Marriott hotel. Not only will we never stay there again, we will make sure that friends and family stay elsewhere.

The front desk staff was excellent. Very helpful for places to dine and things to do. The room lacked a safe, even a Holiday Inn has a safe in the room. As a result we were forced to carry our valuables with us whenever we left the premises. We requested housekeeping services for Sunday, they never showed up so I had to call the front desk that evening upon returning to the room to request fresh towels. The breakfast buffet was completely lacking. It progressively got worse each day. To the point on Monday there was little to eat at 8:20am. The food that did remain was burnt to crisp. See attached photo. The individual who ran the kitchen made the excuse that they were out of supplies due to the Holiday. Christmas was last Wednesday. Food and supplies should have been ordered on Thursday, Friday and Saturday if needed. After spending nearly 20 years in the F & B industry if I ever needed additional food or supplies and we ran out I would have sent someone to the store to retrieve provisions. Furthermore, I overheard someone say “there’s nothing I can eat at this buffet. And finally to add insult to injury, the kitchen staff turned the lights off at 9:00am sharp, even though there was a dozen plus guests standing around the buffet hoping that food would be brought out so that they might have something to eat after waiting patiently for food to be served. So overall the place gets a 4. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you’re Marriott and not Motel 6.

Our room was not ready until 8:43 pm which is ridiculous. I checked in early online and everything. When we asked the person at the desk if housekeeping could do our room next because we were waiting she refused. She said that the housekeepers were working and they could not do a specific room.

My husband sat in a fabric chair for a short period of time. He was significantly bitten. It doesn’t look like bed bugs. More like fleas? It is a pet friendly place. They did move us, but only after we complained and spoke to the manager.
