Our stay at this property was unforgettable! Nestled in a beautiful location on the Golden Circle with wide open skies to view the Northern Lights. The house itself was cozy and well-appointed, with modern amenities and a warm atmosphere. We especially loved the hot pot, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The host's detailed instructions made checking in a breeze. This was the ideal base for our adventures, and we hope to return soon!

Very nice cottage!
We stayed here for 4 nights in July, two adults and two children (8 and 10). The cottage is located a 30-45 min drive from a lot of cool sites, and 20 mins from Selfoss with shops and cafĆ©s. The cottage itself is really nice, clean and well kept, with a very nice hot tub! Would recommend sleeping with the windows closed in the summer though, to keep the gnats/mosquitos out. We learned the hard way the first night šŸ˜…

Loved to stay in the Cabin! Great Location for the south area. The cabin is very comfortable and have everything you need. We just had a bit of trouble getting the hot water going and the pipes make a lot of noise while you use the shower, but other than that, we loved it here and would love to come back! Host communication is impecable! Thank you so much for such great experience! Jessica B

The house was located in beautiful setting. We could see mountains around us and caught a beautiful sunset our first evening there. There was a deck that went 3/4 of the way around the house with a hot tub to enjoy after traveling. It was a convenient location to enjoy sightseeing.

Incredible property in stunning country
We absolutely loved our stay at House Ingolfsfjal. The property is bigger than it looks on the photos so plenty of room for 5 adults. The beds are comfy and blackout blinds in the rooms mean it stays dark. Communication with Rainer and Stephanie was excellent and they were so helpful. The house was so well equipped with absolutely everything we needed and excellent instructions on where to find things. The hot pot was glorious after hiking and sightseeing days and the views from inside we wonderful! We were so sad to leave this amazing house and would love to return to Iceland and to this house.

Perfect Iceland Home Base!
I could not wait to come home and review this property. We didn't want to stay right in Reykjavik as we had some tours booked in southern Iceland and wanted to really explore the Golden Circle. This house was the perfect location for all of our adventures. Only 30 minutes north to Thingvellir, a couple hours east brings you to black sand beaches and waterfalls, and less than an hour to Reykjavik and the more popular lagoons. The house was cozy, comfortable, and came with a manual that answered any questions we may have had. The hosts were very responsive and had lots of insight and suggestions about sights to see. Would stay here again and again!

Exceeded expectations!
This house was the perfect place for my family of 5 to stay for our Iceland vacation! Location was a great home base for sightseeing day trips. The views we spectacular, and the house was actually even better than the pictures showed! The house included all of the comforts of home (kitchen was stocked with all the appliances/gadgets you would want), and the detailed check in packet and communication from hosts made it a breeze to rent this property! I simply cannot say enough good things about this property!

Great location and fun house for family
Great location for Golden Circle activities! The two bedrooms on the bottom floor were perfect for the adults, and the two teenagers enjoyed being able to "escape" up to the loft. We traveled in Feb and could see the northern lights while sitting on the deck. Highly recommend.

Great for our weekend trip
My wife, 14 year old son and I stayed here for a long weekend. Great location, kitchen is well equipped, very clean, close to Selfoss for any supplies a traveler might need. Sitting out in the hot tub watching for northern lights (even though we didn't get to see any) was wonderful. Would definitely stay here again on any subsequent trips to Iceland.

Very nice, well equipped house with good views
Had a very nice stay at this house near Selfoss with good views of the surrounding area. Great kitchen, comfortable beds and a good powerful shower. The lounge is lovely with views in three directions of the beautiful Icelandic scenery. Be slightly wary of the Icelandic weather as a large amount of snow came down the day before we were due to check in and this made getting to the house difficult. Once off the main road and past the gate our 4x4 got stuck in the deep snow and we were only able to reach the house itself once a passing snow plough had kindly cleared to route. Other than that, everything was good.

I would stay here anytime I visit Iceland. The location was perfect for seeing all the sights in the golden circle. Then you can come back and relax at this peaceful cabinā€™s beautiful surroundings. This place is clean, spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the cabin has everything you need and more. The owners are quick to respond to questions and their directions to the cabin were fantastic. This place made our holiday the perfect combination of sightseeing and relaxing.

Excellent stay with a spectacular landscape
This home is meticulously maintained, comfortable, very private, and very clean. The neighborhood is rural and beautiful, and only an hour drive from almost every site in the golden circle, including the active volcano. The owners are incredibly responsive and flexible. Very highly recommended (we would definitely stay here again). If you love to be in a rural area with an incredible landscape and view, then this is the place to go.

This rent was in great shape and weā€™ll equipped! Itā€™s location in south central was perfect for exploring Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, the coast south of Selfoss, and the waterfalls along the edge of the glacier to the east of Selfoss. All were within a one to two hour drive of the house! Selfoss was nearby for stocking up on goods and other needs.

Great escape for our adventures
We had a great time at the rental. We made liberal use of the hot pot after many of our days exploring Iceland, and it was a great location for the things we wanted to see. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was plenty of living space for five adults to relax in. The only things to be aware of would be varying hot water temperature and pressure and very soft pillows (your head sinks almost to the mattress). We even saw the Northern Lights, which was a big reason for picking Iceland and this house's location! Lovely house, and I would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful place and comfortable house
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your wonderful home. We had everything we needed and enjoyed coming back after a day of adventures to make dinner and relax. The kitchen was well stocked and we had plenty of supplies for our whole trip. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights one night and it was amazing we could see them right from the patio! Thanks again for everything and we hope to come back someday! I would highly recommend to anyone coming to Iceland to stay here and enjoy a peaceful retreat after taking in all the sights.

Pretty Good Place...
Overall, the home was very nice, however, there were some things that we found that we did not LOVE about this place. 1) there was only 1 partial roll of toilet paper for 5 people...???? This wouldn't normally be a problem but we were literally miles away from a store to buy more. 2) There were no paper towels or other paper products in the home. 3) The "hot tub" did not have any jets -- and is literally only a tub of warm water. Also, when we got there, there was no hot water to actually fill the tub which we were informed does happen. Sadly we were never able to use the tub due to these problems. 4) Despite the rules of the home upon arrival we found that there was trash around the yard and that the prior people left more trash in the receptacle out back (which we were under the impression was not to happen.) Also the cigaret bin was over flowing...and we don't even smoke. Overall, the home is a great way to travel and see the sights in Iceland. However, be prepared to supply more of your own products for the home and know that the "hot tub" is really a tub of warm water...when it works. Despite all of these things, the owners were very responsive to emails and did answer our questions after we arrived. Sadly, the great location and responsive hosts did not make this home everything we had been expecting.

Let down by poor access route
This property is in a great location for visiting the sights of southern Iceland with shops within 20min drive. The house has pleasant views all around and was found to be spacious, comfortable and well equipped however, the hot tub was not working when we visited. A word of warning for winter visitors relates to the access road beyond a padlocked gate. We visited after a period of heavy snow which resulted in the track to the house being indiscernible and difficult to navigate even with a 4x4. The road was not cleared or treated throughout our stay and on day 2 we spent the morning digging ourselves out of a drift across the track by hand as there is no shovel at the property. Unfortunately on day 4 we slipped into a ditch by the gate resulting in a 35k isk tow charge! Bearing in mind we drove 600km during our stay without incident (including periods of heavy snow) we were disappointed that our main challenge was getting to and from the property each day. The location is relatively remote and very few other properties were occupied during our stay although other site users had access through an electronic gate on a cleared track. Donā€™t be put off going to Iceland in winter though, it is amazing. I would only recommend this property if you are a competent 4x4 driver and are happy to fend for yourselves if the weather is poor.

A beautiful home in an excellent location
We had a little misunderstanding with the housekeeper on our first day, but the hosts were very accommodating in dealing with the issue. After that, it was smooth sailing. A perfect home base for all our activities, a great home to relax in, and a comfortable bed to sleep in. The kitchen was well-stocked so that we were able to prepare all of our meals easily there. The house was warm. And on one night, we even saw the Northern Lights pretty strongly. Overall, we would definitely recommend. But just to let any future American guests know - the ā€œHot Potā€ looks like a Hot Tub, but if you are expecting it to function like a hot tub, youā€™ll be disappointed. By the time the hot pot fills with water, itā€™s pleasantly warm, but not hot, and thereā€™s no jacuzzi jets like in a normal hot tub. Itā€™s more like an artificial hot spring, but not as hot. We werenā€™t banking on spending much time in the hot tub, so we werenā€™t too disappointed, but if you are looking for that experience, you might be disappointed. Overall 4.5 stars. We had a great trip!

Great location, comfortable cabin!
We were very pleased with how well this cabin was laid out, with lots of room in the common areas so that several people could be cooking or working at the table without feeling crowded. Everything was clean, up to date and in very good condition. The kitchen was easy to work in. Bathroom was well-appointed and worked out well. It had not been clear to us from the description of the cabin of how steep the stairs are to get up to the loft. One of our party said it was more like a ladder. The loft is not an ideal accommodation for older adults. We appreciated having the use of the washer and dryer; thank you for the clear and detailed instructions including pictures. We did not use the hot pot but again the instructions were so clear we were confident we could have used it easily. The cabin was so cozy! We appreciated the radiant heat in the floor. And the location made it very easy to get to everything we wanted to explore in the south of Iceland. We had privacy and lots of space around the cabin, yet it was just a few minutes into town or onto the road to go places. There were a few points that we wanted to mention for future renters. A minor one was that only one bath towel was provided per person; some of us like to use a separate towel when we wash our hair. The other point seemed more serious. Since the front door locks automatically when it closes, and only one house key was provided, we took precautions to make sure we wouldn't get locked out. Especially in the middle of winter, if we all went out to see the Northern Lights (which we saw on several nights) and the door closed and locked, we could be out in the cold with no phone, no car keys, and few if any neighbors around who could have helped. We were thinking that a second house key would solve the problem. One key could be left in the lock box for emergencies. All in all it was a great stay in a great cabin and we thank our hosts for having everything set up so well for us. We appreciated all the detailed information they provided about the cabin location, codes for locks, how to use things in the cabin and how to contact them if and when necessary. They were prompt, friendly and courteous whenever we did get in touch with them. Thanks for everything!
