Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group - accommodation in Shanghai

Excellent location to be based at if doing a short Shanghai trip. It is linked directly to a small mall with retail and food. MRT station is just across the street. And the location is right at the west entrance of East Nanjing pedestrian street , so you get the convenience of all the shops and food that comes with it. The room we got was super impressive and by far this was the best quality room we got on our Shanghai trip. Voice activated curtains, lights and music (though you'd need to speak mandarin to make it work), also buttons available. Toilet and bath was very good and there was an electrical bidet! We got the west view with our high-floor room. Try to get the east view of Bund view if possible.

Great overall hotel, typical of the Shangri-La standard. It is right next to Lujiazui an intersection MRT station for Line 2 and 14 which makes it very easy to get to all the major central Shanghai tourist spots. There is a high-end mall, across the street which sites the Ritz, a lifestyle mall in the same side of the street which has great food upstairs and the usual shopping outlets and a Disney store standalone outlet just further down the street. Overall a very comfortable stay. Only comments would be that the curtains appear a bit dated, some parts of the curtain don't really cover the entire window. Having bidets would be a big plus, some parts of the toilet are showing their age but still in good quality. Wouldn't recommend the buffet breakfast unless it happens to be included in your package. We feel it's overpriced for the array of selections and quality but we have high-standards for food so it may be to your fancy if you have a chance. Staff are tip-top. Service is impeccable.
