False impression
Paul was good at replying to our communications. We didn’t get any check-in details though, luckily the taxi firm he uses knew his ‘phone number and could get the keys for the apartment. We still had to contact Paul for details of how to leave the apartment at the end of our stay.
The apartment, where do I start - we knew from the photos that it was quirky, but the reality was something else. We were 2 couples so we booked because it had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 sofas. But hey, no! One sofa had completely disappeared!
The snooker table had become a pool table which has seen better days. The dining chairs had been recovered twice and had been patched up with tape. The television was held up by a speaker on one side and a small table on its side plus a book. There were no instructions for it and we couldn’t make it work. The round cushion on the floor surrounded by net curtains was in front of the air conditioning unit. There are several drawers in the bedrooms that couldn’t be used because there were no knobs on them. Some wiring and sockets were probably dangerous because they were hanging off the walls.
The kitchen was fine and there were plenty of utensils and crockery. The beds were comfortable although some of the pillows could do with being replaced. The location was the best thing about the apartment, close to the water, the ferries, the buses and restaurants & shops.
