Villa Sumac, immersed in the greenery of about three hectares of estate planted with vineyards and centuries-old olive trees, takes its name from the sumac plant, a spice of Asian origin (called sommacco in Sicily) which is found in abundance within the property. Originally an early 20th century farmhouse, Villa Sumac has been recently renovated while maintaining the traditional Sicilian style. In fact, thanks to a careful operation of restyling, the colours of the earth and the territory have been skilfully combined with those of the existing structure, one example being the two annexes and the traditional dry stone walls made with local light stone. The villa consists of three buildings connected by flowering paths and which share a large pergola equipped with a dining/barbecue area. The view of Etna is guaranteed by the marvellous panoramic and hilly position enjoyed by the swimming pool and the Jacuzzi tub. Villa Sumac stands in a privileged position, at the centre of numerous sites of great historical, archaeological and naturalistic interest; in less than an hour it is possible to reach the most beautiful beaches of Sicily, with crystal clear water and fine sand. The villa is located in the south-east of Sicily, a few minutes from the centre of Sortino (a Baroque town located on the Ibleo plateau at 443 m above sea level), from the rock necropolis of Pantalica and from the Anapo nature reserve. A visit to the Baroque cities of the Val di Noto (Noto, Scicli, Modica, Ragusa, Syracuse and Ortigia), to the Cave d'Ispica, a river valley of light rock with remains of prehistoric settlements, to the Vendicari Nature Reserve, with its long beaches of fine sand, marshes, where flamingos and herons migrate, unique flora and fauna, and historical artifacts such as the Swabian Tower, a fortified 15th century tower, and those of the Greek city of Eloro.
Interior:
The complex consists of the main villa and two annexes for a total area of about 250 sq m. VILLA. It has three floors connected by an internal staircase. The main entrance is accessed be crossing the garden-level terrace with the large outdoor dining table covered by a pergola. From here, a few steps lead up to the house-level terrace, equipped with sofas and armchairs for relaxing. On the ground floor, you are welcomed by an open-plan room with sitting and dining areas and modern linear kitchen. A few steps lead up to the bathroom with shower which serves the double bedroom located on the upper floor. On the lower floor is a guest bathroom and a hallway with direct access to the external courtyard where there is a separate room used as a laundry. A short path across the garden leads to the annexes which are a short distance apart from each other. ANNEX 1. It consists of a suite with double bed, sitting area and a large bathroom with tub and shower. ANNEX 2. It consists of a double bedroom served by a bathroom with shower. The two annexes have their own covered outdoor spaces equipped for relaxing.
Park:
The park extends for about three hectares of land with vineyards, olive trees, mushroom cultivations and the particular plant, sumac, from which the villa takes its name. Light gravel paths bordered by flowers and plants connect the three buildings of the complex, as well as the pool area that is slightly elevated with respect to the buildings. The terrace in front of the house, reachable from both the living area and the kitchen, is the ideal place to enjoy an apéritif. In the garden slightly below the terrace, a gazebo shades a large dining table. At the back of the house, an external courtyard contains a further dining area with barbecue and independent laundry. The villa is easily reachable from the SS114; from the automatic entrance gate an internal drive of about 150 m leads to the covered parking area with pergola (with capacity for 5 cars), 70 m from the entrance to the villa. Furthermore, there is also the possibility of unloading suitcases and any shopping close to the main entrance (about 20 m away).Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The pool area is located at a slightly higher level than the villa which is about 20 m away and is reached up across a path that includes a flight of approximately 15 steps. The pool, bordered by light coloured stone slabs, is surrounded by lawn. Rectangular and measuring 10 x 5 m with a constant depth of 1.40 m, it is lined internally in painted concrete and has chlorine purification and internal steps for access to the water. The 130 sq m solarium area with wood-like decking surrounding the pool is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. From the solarium, a short flight of 9 steps leads to the round, PVC-lined Jacuzzi tub for 6 people (diameter 2 m and depth 60 cm). The hilly view of the countryside and Mount Etna make it the perfect spot to hang out during the day and also in the evening, thanks to the internal and external lighting both in the jacuzzi and in the pool. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi tub will be open from the first Saturday in April to the last Saturday in October.
Pets: Yes, small size. € 50,00 per animal per week to be paid on site. Acceptance of animals to the facility must be previously authorised by the owner upon communication of the number of animals, size and breed.
