Woodsy Personal Retreat Cabin - "Solitude"

This little one-room cabin is ADORABLE! It has everything you need (and nothing you don't) for a quiet getaway to fill your soul. It has lots of light from large windows looking out at the woods and the Amnicon River valley, and access to hiking trails and our large private sandy beach on the South Shore of Lake Superior.

Here are a few things you'll want to know before you book this cabin:
- The cabin is clean, comfortable, and elegant, but still quite rustic. The cabin is available year-round, with a propane fireplace for your main source of heat. It has electricity, but no running water. In the kitchenette is a water dispenser for washing & drinking. Adjacent to the cabin is your own private low-odor outhouse that has a little heater and a light you can turn on from inside the cabin. Just a one-minute walk from the cabin is the main lodge, which has public restrooms for showers and flushing toilets.
- There is no drive-in access to this cabin. You can unload your vehicle about a one or two-minute walk from the cabin. We offer hand carts and/or utility sleds for bringing luggage to the cabin. The cabin is down a slight hill from the unloading area. After you've unloaded your vehicle, we'll ask you to park your car back in the parking lot along the side of the road.
- Please watch this 4-minute tour video before reserving this cabin. The video will hopefully help give you a sense of what the cabin is like so you can decide if it's a good fit for you before you make a reservation: https://youtu.be/wQIBC2ZS_p8

Rustic without being too rustic

Very cozy and cute cabin. There are 6 basically identical cabins on site, this was in one row and the 3rd of 3 with the other 3 being down a different path. That meant that no other people staying there had reason to wander past our location. The staff onsite were responsive. The toaster oven is very small. Half the size of most rectangle air fryers. It says Duluth is 44 minutes away. It is much closer! Superior is only a short drive. There is little to no cell service. Text messages need to be sent a few times often. You can stream spotify, but a facebook page can take 30 seconds to a minute to pull up. Very much worth every penny. It is rustic. It is also nice to have showers on site. Would certainly stay here again.

Great Little Cabin!

Everything was as advertised. Watch the video provided. Cabin felt bigger than expected. New and nice! Beds comfortable. Amenities are compact but adequate. Well worth the price! Outhouse is heated if you plan ahead (switch inside). Porcupine trail was a blast and the beach is very nice. 15-20 minutes if you take your time. Hot showers and flush toilets just a 1 minute walk. This particular cabin is the last of three identical cabins in a row and is down a bit of a hill. Pick Gratitude if you don't walk to cart all your stuff down a steepish hill. Wasn't a big deal. Cabin was warm and quite. Such a pretty setting. Host was kind and helpful if you needed more water or anything. Part of a beautiful Bible and adventure camp. Very nice. :-) Would definitely return!

Such a beautiful place, nestled in the woods. All the beauty, all the peacefulness. One major negative no Wi-Fi at all, and only one intermittent bar.

Solitude

Great stay, love this little retreat! There are groups of kids but we had no issues and had no one walk past the solitude cabin. Has electricity and a outhouse. This is a wooded area so expect bugs and everything else that goes with nature. Check in was literally you just grab a cart and walk to your cabin, there is no formal check in. Also solitude does not have phone reception, so prepare for that as well if you are someone who needs it. when you

Good overall

There is too much overgrowth of weeds in the property that it is difficult to completely access the fire pit. There is only access through one side because of all the overgrowth. Too many mosquitos and ticks outside more than what I expected.

Cute little cabin

We really loved staying a couple nights in the cabin. Just enough amenities and it was super cozy. Highlights were the fire pit, big windows to watch the sunrise, and trails to the water. It's cold out but the outhouse has a heater that you can start from inside the cabin! We also stayed nice and toasty inside with the gas fireplace.

Glamming at its bet

This was a perfect spot for our small family. The cabin was everything we expected. The kitchenette was great. Half an hour from Duluth made it easy to go into town to explore. We also enjoyed the hiking. We’ll be back to enjoy the shoreline on Lake Superior next time.

Remote and solitude

The cabin was very nice but the temperature was in the high 80’s and the cabin was hot. Cooled down with open windows and ceiling fan. Nice hike to the Lake. The camp had a few church groups there with lots of children and young adults but they were far enough away to not bother us in the “Solitude” cabin.
