Birthday Prosecco offer impossible to claim
On check-in we were given a room door tag advertising that they will give you a free bottle of Prosecco on your birthday if you sign up to their mailing list. As it was my birthday during my stay I signed up. The receptionist told me that I’d just have to let them know that it was my birthday at the bar. So I did. I asked six times over the course of 2hours and 20 minutes spent in the bar for them to honour this promise in their marketing material (which had no visible terms and conditions on their door tag or website.) Every time I asked, staff fobbed me off saying that without a specific email from head office they didn’t know what they could do - had I checked my spam folder? (Yes) Had I used the QR code? (Yes) Had I downloaded the app? (Yes), you just need to book a table (I’ve got a table booked for 7:30…). I’ll check with my manager and get back to you (never happened), the manager will sort this out when she has finished dealing with some issue at the bar (actual barefaced lie). The sad thing is that this awful example of head office marketing versus on-the-ground staff performance really undermined an otherwise positive experience. The food and service in the restaurant were impeccable. The room was quiet and comfy. This is a very popular venue for weddings and the public areas inside the hotel were dominated by the wedding activity - noisy music, queuing wedding guests clogging the bars and reception areas and leaving a crust of confetti everywhere.
Don’t waste your time doing this. They seemed to go out of their way to make this free bottle of wine impossible to claim.

Excellent stay.
Simple & quick to check in. Superb reception. Excellent "normal" food choices (subject to me being gluten-free). Friendly and helpful staff. Clean & fresh room & hotel. Lovely grounds & environs with interesting history. If we come back to the UK & are in this area, staying here again is a certainty.

A Delightful Stay
We were absolutely delighted with our stay. The room was very comfortable, the shower was amazing, our chateaubriand steak for dinner was delicious and breakfast was excellent. We particularly appreciated having our breakfast freshly cooked.

Don’t think about it, book it!
The stay was perfect from start to end. We didn’t want to leave and commented how nice it would have been to stay longer. The grounds were well kept, in a beautiful setting with the lake and canal. The staff were all very polite, helpful and friendly. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The rooms were quite considering there was a wedding on during our stay. The restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast had lots of choice. I was amazed by the adaptability for gluten free dining, which the staff fully understood and catered for. Recommended to others.
