Fully refreshed 60s beach house on a single level, with two sun-filled decks and north-facing views across Pittwater to Lion Island. A perfect escape, minutes from family friendly Clareville beach, which is just a short walk down the road. The kids will love it and small dogs are welcome. Once you round the Avalon bends, and drive past the huge angophora trees, you will forget the city is less than an hour away.
It is easy to spend days at the house and the beach, reading and relaxing, without needing to do more than walk to the Hilltop shops for a morning coffee. The beach itself is clean, clear and without waves - making it perfect for little ones and adults alike. Award winning Clareville Kiosk offers dining options which are a short walk from home. There are also fabulous restaurant and cafe options from Avalon to Palm Beach, or nip down for a drink and dinner at Justin Hemmes' remodelled Newport Arms.
For the more adventurous, there are loads of activities for all ages, from the surf beaches at Palm Beach, Whale Beach, Avalon and Bilgola, to golf courses at Palm Beach and 'Royal' Avalon, tennis courts, Stand Up Paddle Board hire, dinghy hire, fishing from the beach or the Taylors Point wharf, and amazing views on the Bangally Head bushwalk along the coast. Even with a week of school holidays, you will feel that you have barely scratched the surface. Should the weather be wet, there is a United Cinema complex at Warriewood, or just stay in and play games or watch a full range of entertainment on the Smart TV at home.
The house itself is simple and uncluttered, in keeping with our grandparents' original vision. The beds are new and comfortable: the main room has a queen bed, the second room a double bed, and the 'kids' room has two singles - one of which is a king single. All have fans with reverse cycle air conditioning in the main room. The central living space contains a TV, couches, a day bed and a table for puzzles, games and reading. There are two separate decks with furniture to suit the occasion and the sun, and a bbq to round off the day. The wifi in the house allows you to work or study from 'home' if you need to.
Other features include two full bathrooms with showers, and an internal laundry with dryer. There is also a backyard for the kids and an outdoor shower to wash off the sand when you come back from the beach.
We mostly arrive with just our clothes, and buy the weekend's food at Woolworths in Avalon on the way in. There is also a good wine shop, a BWS and several chemists in Avalon to get whatever else you need. One of the hidden gems in Avalon is the french patisserie, La Banette, which provides all the must have baguettes and croissants that will keep you coming back for more, probably on a daily basis.
We can't help but relax when we come here, which is probably why the house has been in the family since 1964. We are sure you will too, and if you fall in love with the Clareville charm, we would be delighted to welcome you back again, and again.
