About this property

Timberframe Spa Lodge in the woods on Skaneateles Lake, NY

Paul's Lodge is a timberframe spa nestled in the woods on beautiful Skaneateles Lake.
This property is a work of art. Guests who enjoy music, art, nature, spa relaxation, wine and fine furnishings will be attracted to Paul's Lodge.

Our Tram Carriage escorts guests from main floor deck to lake dock. ZERO steps to the lake! Mobility friendly property with just one step from driveway to Lodge and main floor bedroom/bathroom.

Highlights of Paul's Lodge

Spectacular timberframe home with grand forest and lake views. Two story great room with player system grand piano, fireplace, kitchen with granite and stainless. Outdoor living room with massive fireplace, flat screen TV, dining area and lake viewing areas. Wine cellar spa with hot tub, sauna, outdoor shower and massage table. Massage therapist eagerly available. Master king suite with sitting room, with linens, some robes and essentials included.

Paul's Lodge is care taker serviced. We take great pride in our properties.

Paul's Lodge is friendly for handicapped or elderly guests considering it is built into the side of a mountain forest. (not ADA specs but handicapped "friendly")

Paul's Lodge was carefully designed to serve the purposes of two seemingly different types of vacationers. With beds for 11 and a large indoor/outdoor living space on the main floor, the lodge is suited for large or multi family vacations, corporate groups, 'all girls or guys weekends' etc. On the other hand, the design is cleverly laid out to accommodate the small, intimate group that wants a peaceful, cozy respite on the lake. The Lodge is ideal for the romantic couple wanting to enjoy the fall leaves as well as the family vacationers. I believe we've pulled it off.

Come to Paul's Lodge. Relax. Listen to over 1000 hours of music on our player grand piano as you taste on of our eight Dr. Frank's award-winning wines. Schedule a massage night as your guests rotate about the spa equipment: hot tub, dry sauna, outdoor shower and massage therapy. Enjoy nature on our decks and patios as you enjoy the sounds and smells of the forest and beautiful Skaneateles Lake. And ride up and down on the Tram Carriage from Lodge to Lake. Live, relax and reconnect.

Note: Paul’s Lodge is accessed down a sloped forest gravel road and four wheel drive is required. (We have alternate parking suggestions for 2 wheel drive). You can expect the drive to be part of your adventure.

Great secluded lake cabin
Ok, to be fair it is more than a cabin. The property has a lot of amenities and we took advantage of all of them. Well located to use as a base for exploring the area. Also very comfortable for just staying in and hanging out with friends and family. Highly recommend and would happily stay again. Finally, don’t let the road scare you. We had an all wheel drive and had no problem getting in or out.

Loved loved loved the outdoor area
After the initial shock of the driveway, yes 4 wheel definitely needed, we came upon the beautiful home. My husband, kids and their significant others and myself had a fabulous time rain or shine. The outdoor living area was perfect, lots of card games and dominoes and we enjoyed chopping wood and had a fire every day. Even during the storms and rain we loved being curled up, hunkered down by the fire. The outdoor shower was awesome. Cleaners probably loved us because our shower never got used. The hot tub was also wonderful and a must for us when renting and so easy to jump in the outdoor shower after. What a fabulous idea with the Piano Room!!! So unique and we took full advantage enjoying all the music while we were there. Also took some great videos rocking it out probably to my embarrassment. We highly recommend renting the pontoon. While we didn’t get to use as much as we had hoped we were glad to have it. The weather and water just wasn’t conducive for comfortable boating. We actually made the choice to turn around one day when hoping to venture to town for lunch. My son was a smart captain and didn’t want to take chances especially with his pregnant sister aboard :) We really loved the place and Mike made it very easy to check in and was very helpful. We hope to come back one day to take advantage of the lake and pontoon during the summer. Thank you for sharing your home Paul! ;) we counted 118 steps. Awesome workout each day!! Bottke Family

Great Getaway Location!
Very well maintained, beautiful modern cottage on the lake. The ONLY drawback was the the steep driveway and 102 stairs to get to the lake - BUT not unsurmountable. The benefits far outweigh those factors. Our group of 8-9 older women had a great time! You should definitely stay here.

Perfect Getaway
Paul’s lodge was absolutely beautiful. We came here for a bachelorette weekend and could not have picked a better spot. Paul was an amazing host. He was staying next door and offered his boat to us. The property manager Mike was so nice and helpful with answering all my questions right away and getting us to the property. 10/10

Great time at Paul’s lodge.
The property is beautiful and property manager was extremely helpful when getting onto the property, as the road is difficult to navigate. The boat that is available in the listing is shared by the another house and should be noted! Overall, our stay was fabulous and we would love to come back again. Thank you!

Amazing, tranquil place!
We had great communication from both the property owner and manager in advance of arrival and throughout our stay. We were well informed about places to go and eat. Mike, the property manager met us in a location close to the lodge and drove us in. The lodge is nestled on a hillside. Absolutely stunning!!! Mike answered any questions we had immediately and was super!! He definitely went above and beyond. We absolutely loved everything and the amenities! We would go back in a heartbeat!

Magnificent gem in the woods; Reminiscent of an adult tree house
Paul's lodge was truly a masterpiece set in the woods overlooking the lake. The views were breathtaking and the house was remarkable. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and relaxing/hanging out on the multiple decks. The outdoor spaces made this property one-of-a-kind; from the outdoor fireplace to the hot tub, outdoor shower, sauna, and variety of decks for everyone to explore and enjoy. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely rent the property again.

THE Best Family vacation!
Paul’s Lodge was The Perfect place for our family vacation. We had 8 adults and 3 kids and there was plenty of room for all of us. Mike (the caretaker) was very helpful and super knowledgeable about the area, he met us and brought us to the house. When they say you need 4 wheel drive, it is not a suggestion, it is absolutely true! It is a mile long, gravel, windy driveway which is steep in certain areas. Do Not let this deter you though from renting this secluded house. Although the inside is beautiful, we spent 95% of our time outside, taking showers in the outdoor shower, eating all our meals in the outdoor living area with a fire going every night, fishing on the dock (grandchildren were Super excited to catch fish), going down to the dock several times a day gave us our daily workout (seeing how there are 119 stairs each way), renting the pontoon boat (fishing and riding around relaxing), kicking back on any number of decks and reading a good book, and of course tasting the wines that are stocked from the local winery! There were excellent hikes to go on (Watkins Glen State Park), apple picking at Owens Orchard, and night Salmon fishing with Eric from Wilsey’sm Fins & Feathers Guide Service. We can not rave enough about Paul’s Lodge, it was an incredible week for our whole family! Thank you Paul for sharing your home with us!

Great outdoor entertaining area. Expansive deck - perfect for roasting s’mores at the fire and enjoyed the hot tub. As others mentioned, be sure to have all-wheel drive because it’s a challenge otherwise.

Excellent Vacation Retreat
Outstanding home that resulted in a wonderful family vacation. The immense outside deck with fireplace, TV, tables, lounge chairs and tables made each evening an event. I highly recommend renting from Paul. He and the property manager, Mike, were very communicative and extremely helpful. Be ready to get your steps in as there are about 100 stairs between the house then lakeside dock. But well worth the hike! Need 4WD to get down the rocky road.

Family week at Paul's Lodge
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paul's Lodge. The drive in is a little intimidating, but the Lodge was delightful. We rented the pontoon boat for the week and had a great time swimming and riding on the lake. The water is unbelievably clean and clear. The outdoor spaces are great - we ate outside every night and finished off with s'mores in the fireplace. We could all eat as much as we wanted after climbing the stairs to and from the water several times a day! The master bedroom suite is lovely. The other bedrooms were functional but small. We all enjoyed the outdoor shower on the lower deck! Our family agreed that we need a return trip to Lake Skaneateles!

Wonderful Lakeside Retreat
This property was a great a great way to enjoy the lake and all it offered. We also rented the boat for a week and it made our vacation that much more enjoyable. Everyone had a great time, even with a week of on and off again rain we were able to enjoy our time away. The covered hot tub and outdoor living space were perfect retreats for when we were unable to enjoy the lake. Great location and amenities with a caretaker that was very attentive to whatever needs arose during our stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Beautiful Lake
Our group was made up of 5 adults and 4 kids between the ages of 5 and 9. We had a nice stay at the lodge. The lake was gorgeous! The house itself was nice, but not quite as luxurious as it as described. We would have appreciate having somewhere to all hang out inside the house, as it rained quite a lot during our stay. The outside of the house is gorgeous and we did appreciate being right on the lake, and having the hot tub at the house. Overall we had a nice visit.

Beautiful house in a gorgeous location. Property manager was very helpful. Rented the boat and really enjoyed that. There were many amenities at the house to enjoy, especially the hot tub. Two negatives: 1. There were no access from house to walking trails. The location is beautiful. 2. Do not rent this house unless you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Extremely rough terrain.

BEAUTIFUL isn't enough
It is very evident that Paul and his care takers take great pride in this home! The caretake and his wife were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help us! Since we rented a limo one of the days and it could not get down the driveway, Mike (caretaker) offered to have his wife pick us up and drive us to a meeting point with the limo, and then she came back hours later to drive us back down the driveway to the house! The outdoor living space is where we spent most of our time with a fire in the beautiful fireplace to keep us warm in the cool evenings. My one piece of advise for anyone looking to rent this home, listen to what they say about needing four wheel drive, this "driveway" is NO JOKE! very steep and I can only imagine how slippery it would be when wet! Thank God we rented an Expedition to get us down to the house!

Great Weekend Get Away
I rented Paul’s Lodge for a long weekend. It was supposed to just be me and my wife but another couple came along. What a great weekend!! We met the caretaker, Mike, a few miles from the lodge and he escorted us to the lodge. Make no mistake, the one mile driveway is no joke and a 4 wheel drive helped but if you take your time you’ll be fine. The house oozes character! Hardwood floors, an entire stone wall surrounding the fireplace and a circular room with a player piano looking out to the lake along with local wines on the wall for your tasting. There is a $20 fee per bottle, but what a great way to sample the local wines while you look out onto the lake. There is a very large entertaining deck complete with outdoor fireplace. This is where we spent most of our time. It was so serene and peaceful to listen to music in the crisp fall air with a fire. The weather wasn’t great but rainy the first full day, but again that deck is spectacular and covered. Didn’t inhibit us at all, and in fact made is nice to watch the rain. The next day was sunny and beautiful. We rented Paul’s Pontoon, which is down on the water below the home. If you get the opportunity to rent it, TAKE IT!! The lake is huge and the colors of the trees surrounding it was the highlight of the trip. The boat is comfortable and roomy and easy to navigate. We asked Mike fir a quick tutorial on the boat and he came in no time. Can’t wait to do it again!!
