Three old (ages 69, 74 and 79) fishing and hunting buddies rented this old girl for 6 nights in March 2022. We had a GREAT time ! Don, owner and host, greeted us upon arrival, helped with our gear, and explained all the boat's systems to us. All systems with the exception of one marine head, worked as advertised--most important being 1) AC, 2) Ice maker, and 3) Coffee maker. The big screen TV had a great picture and worked perfectly although we seldom utilized it.
It was a grand adventure for 3 salty old sportsmen. That being said we all agreed our wives would not have felt as "at home" as we did.
In her day she was a grand old lady. Today, however, she's showing her age and could use quite a bit of TLC. The soles (flooring) were in the process of being repaired in several places and most of the woodwork could use refinishing. These items were small inconveniencies to us but would not have been warmly received by our spouses. Also, I suggest you ask Don about the idiosyncrasies regarding the toilets before booking.
All that being said, one could not ask for a better location. She lies (albeit with a noticeable list to port) in a beautiful marina that offers adequate parking, access to kayaks, an excursion boat, and offshore fishing charters.
But by far the best part of the marina is the access to three really, really good restaurants.
Maria's Cuban Coffee shop has delicious coffees, smoothies, sandwiches and deserts.
The Raw Bar sits on the marina offers great oysters, stone crab, and lobster as well as burgers, fresh fish and much more all at a great value.
Upstairs in the same building is a lively bar and upscale, fine dining restaurant. All three are only steps from the boat.
Don is a wonderful host and will do his best to accommodate his guests. Don't hesitate to speak with him prior to your visit. He'll be happy to hear from you.
