Le Temps Perdu: 88 Acre Wilderness Park between Historic Westport and Perth
For those who want an authentic Canadian winter experience, Le Temps Perdu offers our rustic and cozy cabin in the woods. With a space of 650 square feet, the cabin is an exposed log framed structure with a cozy open planned living space complete with a functional kitchenette for simple meal prep and a sleeping loft in the gables surrounded in natural local pine. It was constructed in 1978 as a place for the original owners to live while building the log home 30 meters away and highlights some of those building techniques. The cabin retains most of its quirks and charms but has evolved with some essential mod cons , like great internet and electricity. Please read on to find out exactly what's here!
The kitchenette comprises of a bar fridge, two infrared burners, large toaster oven, a crock pot and the wood stove makes cooking easy. Included are dishes, cast iron pans, French press coffee maker, utensils, dish cloths, tea towels, dish soap and paper towels. Included are: coffee, tea, salt , pepper, sugar, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and some basic herbs. Potable water is provided from our well in a ceramic and glass dispenser. The cabin is not plumbed.
You will find a cozy living space, including an eclectic assortment of books and games.
The free Wifi connection offers a great opportunity for remote working. Please refer to our longer stays discount.
The loft bedroom comfortably sleep two (which do to architectural limitations has a steep staircase perhaps not suitable for those with mobility issues). Sheets and duvets are supplied. The mattress has been given some extra attention with the addition of feather mattresses. Let us know if there are allergies to consider and they can easily be removed. The cabin can sleep three with the full twin mattress on the trundle bed on the main floor. If you are OK with being very cozy with family or friends we can bring all the extras needed for 3. There is an extra charge for a 3rd person.
The bathroom is located in the main house. It has a separate access and is exclusive to the guests for the duration of their stay. There is a rolltop bath with a European shower fixture with beautiful views to the forest. Tell us your taste in music and we will be happy to supply the sound track to a soothing bubble bath:)
The wood stove in the cottage will make your stay cozy and comfortable. We supply the fire wood free of charge in the winter months.
*The wood fired Finnish dry sauna is located just steps from the bath and cottage and is available for guests upon request. There is a 80$/hour fee per session. Robes and towels are included. Please schedule your session when booking the cottage.
In the winter months snowshoes are provided and during the spring summer and fall organized canoe trips or day hikes are available upon request for a fee. See Airbnb experience, "Day Trip into the Canadian Shield" for details. Hermann is a certified canoe instructor and knows many of the "local" places to go for spectacular Canadian Shield experiences.
We have beautiful grey horses on the property, Jude, Collette and Mika. Please feel free to visit them anytime or ask to join us at feeding time 8 am or 5 pm all year round... or perhaps you will encounter them while walking on some of the trails:)
