beautiful location with a fresh swimming hole.
Our chalet was quite dusty and dirty though.
Overall it was a lovely stay.
Loved this place, was very quiet and relaxing with the nice swimming area ( river ) for the kids . Lovely Hosts . The accommodation was nice , I stayed in the one bedroom cottage , it had everything we needed . Will definitely go back and I would recommend this place to friends and family . Older style accommodation but cosy and well equipped 👌.

Positives: The Lodge has a high cute factor. Location is very secluded and quiet. The room was very well equipped and comfortable. Nice bed & bedding which added to a cozy feeling.
Not So Great: Check-in was long in that it took 23 minutes to get a response and a bit more for someone to arrive. Internet is limited to 100GB per day with rationale to effect that is thought sufficient as nature should take priority. Regardless, the internet connection was not available any point during the 2 day stay. When this was raised at check-in (Friday), operator indicated a technician would be called on Monday (post stay). Parking may be intimidating for some as it required reversing downgrade and around a corner in a tight location. Hot water quantity limits to short showers tho it recovers in a reasonable time - it can be a surprise for hair washing time!

We liked that it was nice and quiet at night, going to see the glow worms, and other activities you could do. Waking up to the sounds of birdlife

Our lovely chalet in the forest
We stayed in a lovely little chalet. It has a small kitchenette with gas hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. There is also a bbq on the deck. It has its own bathroom and double bed downstairs and single bed with pull out upstairs. There is also a tv with freeview box. Very clean modern interior. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No mobile phone reception on site serong as your in a valley but there is free 100mb wifi per device per day. Overall we were really happy with our stay and plan to go back next year

seclusion in the bush
Spent 2 nights here In 2 bedroom cabin...3 adults and one child. Fully equipped with all kitchen utensils. Set in the bush. Unfortunately weather was atrocious for most of the time but we were able to wander through some of the bush tracks and along the riverside. Even saw the glowworms. Nice drive up to Coromandel town and had the weather been better could have spent time wandering along the many beaches and rocks along the foreshore. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would be a great place to stay in the summer
The blessing that was our host gave us...yes at no charge...fresh eggs as ours had come to a sad demise...and then free dvd's as it was the one rain day of our holiday. Once you get over the surprise of walking into your nanas 1960 bach you will settle into the couch or bed warm and cosy. Beautiful setting, bird life abound, was peaceful, thank you.

The owners are lovely and the grounds and river are very beautiful! However the drive is very steep and rough gravel! The lodge we stayed at had a very antique feel and a bit time warpish! If you over look the peeling paint and old fashioned kitchen it’s quirky and interesting! WiFi is available but limited! An interesting stay but not for those who want modern, chic and sterile! This is definitely a unique stay!
Friendly greeting and staff, lovely location with a brilliantly beautiful backyard, full of things to explore on its own. Lodging is quaint and quiet with an amazing view from the porch.
Love the cottage surrounded by nature! Enjoyed the chill river and quietness! Exceptional hospitality, Murray and family were very friendly and helpful to provide information on where to go and what to explore around the area. Our cottage was fully equipped with everything we need; pots and pans are all well maintained too.
Would have been great if I had bring some books to read on the balcony while enjoying the quiet nature. It calms our hearts and slow us down from the fast pace. It's a great place to spend quality time with loved ones. Me and my parents had a lovely 2 nights stay!
Hefty price not to have check in until 2.00pm & out by 10.00am the next day.
There was some rubbish found under our bed.
For the price we paid, we would have expected the shower to run properly. It would suddenly go cold, or scorching hot. They also ask you to have short showers, very odd. We could hear the people in the cottage next door as if they were in ours. A bit of work needs doing. I stayed there 4 times approx 10 yrs ago & loved it. I wont be going back.
Our stay was great, and the hosts are friendly and made us feel at home. They also offered suggestions for stop overs on our way to Rotorua.

Beautiful spot down by the river. We really enjoyed playing in the kayaks, swimming and sitting on the bank. Our kids didn’t want to leave the Lodge all the time we were there.

Great stay - loved the nature surrounding our cottage. Unfortunately it was raining so didn't get to go for any walks or enjoy using the kayaks. We stayed inside and watched a DVD that we borrowed from reception! Also was able to borrow a highchair too. Thanks!
Online pictures did not do justice to this gem of an accommodation. Our double bedroom lodge was more comfortable and well appointed than expected. Could easily take a couple of weeks just to explore the immediate surroundings.
Charming comfortable chalet in a rustic environment. Deep in the woods with its own lazy river to swim or kayak in, or picnic/read beside, it was a real getaway. Our host Murray was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable - his tips about the area were great! Our cosy chalet was quiet, with a balcony to eat at and a couple of friendly visiting chickens. The kitchenette is well-equipped, with utensils, a microwave, small stove and fridge, but bring easy-to-cook food as the space is small. Overall we had a lovely stay over 2 nights!
Lovely chalet with a great view from the balcony. Would sleep 2 adults and 2 children
in the upstairs room, but would be rather cramped if wet - better for 2/3. Dining table was undercover on the balcony. There was a bbq as well as a two burner stove and microwave. Within the extensive grounds there were some short walks and a swimming hole with kayaks available. Very nice people.
Love this place, tucked away in the bush. Waking up to bird song. Great location, halfway between Thames and Coromandel. Safe stream for kayaking, lots of stuff for kids. Well equipped homely chalet. Will definitely be back.
A beautiful spot to get away from it all.. Quiet and off the grid. A great spot to relax, and explore the area. The setup is basic and not the place to stay if you area looking to party, but is great for a relaxing time.
