*Please see our 5* reviews*
Guests love the central village location, being close to the beach, shops, cafes and pubs, our cleanliness and the nautical decor.
Bookings of 7 nights or or more will enjoy a little welcome of locally made Devon Fudge.
Communicate directly with the owner, you will get a quick response to your enquiry.
Oyster Cottage is a gorgeous 19th Century cottage totally renovated and carefully furnished in a contemporary nautical style. Lovingly fitted to a high specification with: Wi-Fi, flat screen UHD smart 4K TV, waste disposal, electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, combi-boiler for constant hot water and gas central heating.

Over the winter 2023/24 we have refreshed the interior paintwork, cleaned the carpets and most exciting of all got a new sofa bed for the lounge, all ready for you to enjoy the experience of staying in Oyster Cottage, Shaldon even more!

The cottage is reverse level with an open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen on the first floor which allows wonderful views of the sea, estuary and village green. There are UPVC double glazed windows throughout and sliding doors with a juliette balcony off the dining area.

The double room has a comfy double bed with a kingsize duvet and top quality bedding. There is a very roomy fitted wardrobe, venetian blinds, a black out blind and coordinating bedside tables with matching lamps. In the second bedroom there are adult sized bunk beds and a walk in wardrobe. Another kingsize duvet is available for the sofa bed in the open plan lounge.

In the bathroom there is a incredibly spacious walk in shower, tastefully designed and decorated to fit in with the nautical and seaside theme throughout the cottage.

Central village location overlooking the popular Bowling Club Green and less than 100 metres from Shaldon’s popular safe, sandy beach with a passenger ferry to Teignmouth. Easy pull up outside to unload, free parking around the green. Also many "local' parking places nearby and two large car parks. Leave the car behind for the duration of your stay, everywhere is walkable!

The village has excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops all within easy walking distance. The wonderful London Inn is just across the green. There
are two great beaches, a smuggler's tunnel, fishing and crabbing opportunities, a little zoo run by the Wildlife Trust, 18 hole approach golf at The Ness, the botanical gardens and a children's play park all close by within walking distance. Also a pool and spa open to the public at the Coast View Holiday Park, just 5 minutes by car.

Two miles away is the excellent Teignmouth Golf Course designed by the Augusta National architect. The famous South West Coastal Footpath is easily accessible just 15 minutes walk from the cottage, https://www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk and if wine tasting is your thing you must visit the Old Walls Vineyard at Bishopsteignton just a short drive or taxi ride away!

Shaldon’s elegant Georgian architecture, fisherman’s cottages and narrow streets exude charm. Throughout the year there are activities, festivals and the very popular Regatta in August along with a Christmas market and the annual 3 legged race on Boxing Day such a fun event to take part in and watch!

Another lovely stay at Oyster Cottage...
We are regular visitors to Shaldon, we stayed at Oyster Cottage in the summer and booked this October trip while we were here. Lovely cottage, bright spacious living area upstairs with views over the green and the estuary. estuary

Not ideal for a slightly infirmed person
It was a lovely property had everything you needed, but a couple of things were that in the description it showed a photo of outside saying it was property grounds but it appears it wasn’t, there was no outside to property. But the biggest problem was the bed sofa, again in the photo it shows two settees but it has been changed to a sofa bed which we found was extremely uncomfortable being so hard Not possible to sit on for more than a couple of hours.and the other problem we had the stairs were very difficult we know it’s a character property but it would be easier with a solid banister the rope is very unstable

Fab stay in a great location
The cottage has everything you need for a lovely stay. Very well equipped kitchen, fantastic walk in shower, amazing location and no trouble parking. We parked around the green when we first got there and although we then didn't use the car saw plenty of spaces appear throughout our stay. The village has some lovely pubs particularly The London Inn opposite the cottage, cafes particularly The Clipper and shops and if you want a peaceful and laid back break. Thank you

Perfect location, lovely cottage.
Great location, central to the village, overlooking the green and mins from the beach. Cottage sleeps 6 but with just 2 of us, plenty of space to chill. Kitchen/ lounge area upstairs, very airy and bright with great views. Very comfortable bedroom, good bathroom, very peaceful at night.

Cracking cottage-central and quiet
Just a perfect size for us, large enough to shake out, and have space, but small enough to be together. The bedrooms are on the ground floor, but there are blinds so no need to worry about leaving the bed in a mess. The showerroom also on the ground floor is spacious and well presented with a lovely shower. The first floor is the open plan living space with views over the postage stamp village green and up the street along the waterfront. We paid a visit to both the London Inn and the Fishermans (or FBI as it is known) pubs - both were on the doorstep and the FBI beer graden overlooks the teign. There are any number of local shops not to be missed and plenty of places for a cuppa and a snack... of course, you do need to hop on britains oldest ferry whilst you are here. We visited the old Walls vineyard - honestly nothing special, but Phil the local taxi driver provided an excellent and prompt service. We had a lovely time in Shaldon the people we met and the cottage were absolutely key to a wonderful time.

Lovely cottage but…
Booked 2 weeks! Stayed 1night! No parking, double yellow lines everywhere, parking for 1hr. Near the cottage but lucky to park there, had to park on a car park up the steep hill and move again after 4hrs. My husband is 81 and recently had a stroke so we decided to leave and come home, lost all the money we paid, wouldn’t have booked if we had known about the parking problem, on a brighter note the cottage was lovely and had everything you needed.

Nightmare! No parking close to the cottage, double yellow lines everywhere!! Wouldn’t have booked it if we had known, my husband had a stroke recently and he is 81 so the walk up a very steep hill to park was too much for him, we had to come home after 1night and lost the whole cost of the holiday.

Great little property. All the info we needed was at hand from where to eat to how to use the gadgets. Very well organised. Locals were friendly and helpful. Parking was a minor issue but we didnt really need to use the vehicle much as we just took the ferry over to Teignmouth. Well worth a visit.

Delightful week at this cottage
The property had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Situated in front of a lovely green space which was used daily by all for craft market, morris dancers picnic area and the like. Two mins walk from Shaldon beach which is delightful. From here you can catch the ferry for the short trip over to Teignmouth where we was fortunate to see the air show. Take a walk around the narrow streets of the village, plenty of good quality cafes and pubs providing good quality food. Walk along the coastal path, visit ness beach or venture further along the coast to seaside towns. Recommend the steam train to Dartmouth and River Cruise. Great cottage - not huge but plenty of room to be comfortable, comfy beds, lovely Decor. Pay and display Car parking is a 10/15 min walk away if you cannot get a spot around the green but not a problem to park outside cottage to load or unload. Hopefully will return.

Lovely upside down cottage
Lovely bright and airy living space with nice views over the green and glimpses to Teignmouth. Very well equipped, only additions that might be welcomed, especially if/when summer heats up, would be ice cube trays and a fan for the bedroom. Parking could be a challenge but the village car park isn't too far if you are average fitness, we managed to park on the green so had no issue ourselves. All the local shops pubs etc are lovely and we didn't need to go far at all for our long weekend break Would definitely recommend and also revisit in the future.

Cosy and Comfortable
This upside down house is brilliant for a short stay in Shaldon. The upstairs is a cosy, comfortable open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Downstairs is nice cool bedroom and shower room area. Perfect during a hot summer. Well fitted out, but the stairs may not be suitable if you have poor mobility. One pet hate, probably just me but I don't like to see an eclectic mix of mugs and glasses. Always looks like they are leftovers. Otherwise a lovely place to stay and we would stay again.

A lovely little cottage very well placed just off the bowling green in the centre of Shaldon. Close to the local shops with many pubs and cafe's to choose from all within a few minutes walk. The cottage itself is very light and airy with pleasant views over the green and along the strand over to Teignmouth. All the facilities are to a high a standard. This property is ideally located in picturesque Shaldon. Perfect for two or a family of four the only downside is the remote parking required. However its worth putting up with that for the convenience of being in the centre of the village.

Delightful Devon
At a very simple level our stay was exactly what my wife and I wanted after a 2 year Lock Down with little respite. The property was beautifully presented with everything internal that a holiday couple would need. The only small criticism was that it had no outdoor facilities, somewhat cushioned by the fact that opposite the front door was a green with several seats but no shade, which was necessary during our week there. Apart from the " no outside facilities for sitting and reading " attached to the property we would book to go there again.
