"The Stone House" is the only portion of our log home that wasn't made from local hemlocks. Besides the thick arched door I made from the ash tree that lightening had struck and the entertainment center repurposed from salvaged oak, most of what makes this place special are the stones: The support columns outside lining the porch are made from field-stone harvested at the farm; The beautiful brick arch-way inside was made with kiln-fired brick crafted over 100 years ago by the coal companies, and stones from our property were beautifully placed in its construction as well. There's a story behind every stone!
This space is just right for reading, reflecting, retreating, or just resting. Come enjoy our working mini-farm, which comes replete with a gurgling creek at the end of the pasture and a stunning mountain view.
The Stone House does not have a full kitchen, but we have the essentials of a mini-fridge, microwave, electric tea pot, coffee maker, and some starter "goodies" you can enjoy along with all the kitchen paper products you'd need. Think of it like a stay in a hotel suite. Go out to eat some, get some pizza, plan simple meals requiring only microwave or adding hot water, and sandwiches of course. Keep it simple. Focus on rest!
The house is partly underground, but has large windows across the front and side for loads of good sunlight. Doesn't feel like a basement at all.
The door out opens to the blueberry patch on one side and a beautiful grassy lawn straight ahead. Sit on the covered patio and take in your own private view of the pasture and mountains directly ahead and a stones throw away. (Pun intended).
Eight stone steps, made from rock, found literally only a few feet from where they are now, and a short walk of 30 feet are all that separate you from your car and the private entrance to The Stone House.
We're making The Stone House available for those looking for some privacy, some reflection, or just some rest. Refresh deeply watching the sun set on our biggest rock - Pine Mountain. Read a book, prop up your feet, put on some coffee, explore--relax.

The pond, the walk to the creek—in other words the grounds, is the only shared space.
Other things to note
Our dogs are friendly and love people. If you’re not a dog lover, just say, “Go” and they will leave. They might come back if they aren’t sure you meant it. 😊 Just remind them of your preference by repeating the command. If you love animals, you will have some immediate friends.
