On the ground floor of our chalet we have created this modern, comfortable, quite unique and completely self contained studio. The studio is set in a quiet location just 100 metres from the telecabine - and just a short 2 minute walk to the centre of Thollon Les Memises, the Ski Station village. From the studio there are outstanding panoramic views over Lake Geneva. The studio comprises a tastefully furnished main living area; a fully equipped modern kitchen area and an en suite shower room/w/c.There is a large (and very comfortable-according to our guests!) double bed settee providing sleeping for two as well as being a relaxing daytime sofa. There's also a full single size banquette ideally suitable for a child or young adult. A child's cot is also available. Electric radiators and a 'log burner' effect electric fire heat this cosy studio. There's a flat screen TV, (UK and French TV),DVD/ CD and video (bring your own or borrow ours). Free Wi - FI is also available available. There's also access to the ski/boot store which adjoins the studio. A perfect studio for 2/3 people wishing to enjoy a winter or summer break - a quiet, yet central village location just a very short walk to our local restaurants, supermarket, boulangerie etc.
Eileen and I do everything we can to ensure our guests have the most comfortable and enjoyable holiday possible whilst staying at The Studio in La Petite Fleur D'Ecosse ' - including a welcome bottle of wine on arrival! We have also arranged special discounts on equipment hire at the most convenient of the local sports hire shops.
Thollon in summer and winter: Thollon and the Lake Geneva area have a great deal to offer - both winter and summer. . The villlage itself sits on the 'Balcony' Lac Leman' and is surrounded by wonderful alpine scenery - the perfect combination of mountains and lake. (In winter there can be few other resorts where you can ski or board to your heart's content whilst,at the same time, having the most magnificent views over the largest inland lake in Europe!)
The studio is in a quiet location overlooking the lake yet very close to the village centre and just 100 metres from the telecabine which takes you directly up to the top of the Pic Des Memises and the ski slopes.
Throughout the winter and summer holiday periods, the village reflects the mood of the season with lots of possibilities available - a lively winter sports resort with several ' apres ski' bars and restaurants and numerous festive activities and events. In summer possibilities include woodland and wonderful alpine meadow walks, tennis, petangue, mountain biking, and paragliding.
Things to do in the local area: There are lots of possibilities all year round. In winter Thollon is the ideal base for the adventurous skier wishing to visit nearby resorts in Switzerland and the Portes du Soleil.
In summer the options are many and varied:- Swimming - close to the village at Plage de la Beunaz (a natural lake with slides and arial runway); the Olympic pool and lidos in Evian and Thonon and the Aquapark at Bouveret; and the Lac Leman with numerous safe and free swimming options including the shallow sandy beach at nearby Exenevex. Evian and Thonon are famous for their spas and Lavey Les Bains with its outdoor heated spa pool is a 'must'.
Then there's sailing, motor boat hire, water skiing and wind surfing on the lake; white water rafting and canoeing on the Dranse; horse riding, tennis, climbing, fishing and golf. And for the really adventutous - the 'Fantistiquecable' mountain to mountain ariel runway! - all within a short drive.
Or perhaps a less energetic trip on one of the Lake Steamers?
Places to visit and other attractions : Lakeside towns and villages - by boat or by car. Evian with it's beautiful esplanade, Casino, gardens art galleries and museums; Thonon with it's pretty port and lakeside restaurants; nearby Yvoire and its neighbour Nernier - wonderful floral medieval fortified villages on the edge of the lake; the bustling Olympic sporting and cultural centre of Lausanne or the world renowned Montreux with its music festivals and Freddie Mercury connections. The Chateaus at Ripaille ( guided tours of the vinyard) and historic Chillon are well worth visiting.
Visit the high alps by cablecar and enjoy the restaurants, spectacular views across snow capped mountains and that special mountain 'stillness' - oh, and the occasional cow bell! The 'goat village' at Linderet -an experience for old and young alike perhaps followed by romantic evening meal at the Bout de Lac as the sun sets on Lake Montriond.Perhaps a trip across the glacier on the Hellbrunner gondola at Chamonix? - an unforgetable experience!
We'd love to help you discover more!
