Luxury Beachside Cottage - Unspoilt Cornish Village - Child/Dog Friendly

Number 2 is a beautiful stone cottage in secure private communal grounds with designated secure underground parking for two cars, a private hot tub on your balcony from which to enjoy stunning sea views and, if you can bear to drag yourself away, situated just a few meters from: the beach with its great mixture of sand and rock pools - perfect for all the family; the South West Coast Path; an 18 hole golf course; and a short distance from Looe, Polperro, Liskeard, and Plymouth.

Built around 15 years ago, with all the charm and appearance of a period property, but furnished to a high standard with all the luxuries of modern living contained within. At the end of your holiday you won't want to leave!

Situated in the perfect location, just 15 minutes from the A38 it is easy to get to by car or by train (St Germans train station is just 5 miles away by taxi). Whether you are looking for a family holiday, a romantic hideaway, just to get away from it all, or to do something active in the clean Cornish air, whatever your interests, Number 2 The Fish Cellars has it all:

For families with little ones: With discrete safety gates at the top of the stairs for Mum and Dad's peace of mind, two high chairs so no one is excluded at meal times, a step, potty, toilet seat, travel cot and baby monitor are all on site so you don't have to bring yours or worry if you have forgotten something.

For families with older ones: The cinema room provides their own den, complete with a 55 inch screen TV, cinema sound system including DVD player, Xbox and PS2 games systems, as well as super fast 150 Mb/s BT fibre wifi throughout the property for connecting their own devices.

For golfers: With a striking views and rolling fairways, Whitsand Bay Golf Club is one of the most stunning cliff top golf courses in Cornwall. Laid by Fernie of Troon in 1905, this unique 18-hole golf course is designed for the holiday golfer as well as the serious club golfer and is situated just a 5 minute walk away.

For walkers: the SW Coastal Path passes immediately in front of the property. The South West Coast Path is England's longest way-marked long distance footpath (and one of the longest in the UK) and a National Trail. It stretches for 630 miles (1,014 km), running from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, passing through Portwrinkle on its way to its end in Poole Harbour in Dorset.

For those quite nights in: Curl up and take in the incredible sea views either from your very own balcony including its own hot tub (emptied and cleaned before every visit) or inside on the comfortable leather sofas with panoramic floor to ceiling windows, or if you just can't miss the next episode of your favourite soap enjoy it on the large TV whilst listening to the crashing waves from the open window.

For film night or that not to be missed footie match: Decamp downstairs to the cinema room, make yourself comfortable on the large comfortable sofa and immerse yourself in a DVD or switch to Sky Sports and let the stunning 55 inch curved Samsung TV with cinema system sound immerse you in the game. With popcorn in hand and a glass of you favourite tipple it may be even better than being there!

For dog owners: Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.

Whether you want to walk for miles on the SW coastal path or just let your dog run off some energy on the beach, Number 2 provides the perfect base form which to explore. Please note that the council imposes some restrictions relating to dogs on some of the beaches in Cornwall during the summer months. You can find more information on this at .

The property is constructed with modern materials throughout faced with local stone to ensure it sits comfortably within its environment. There are just 5 properties within the walled perimeter, with electrically controlled gates to the secure underground parking area.

Television Services:
There are large screen televisions in the lounge area and cinema room.

The cinema room has Freeview, catch-up and on-demand TV services as well as BT Sport and Sky Sports. A good selection of DVDs to play on the cinema system completes the package.

The lounge has Freeview, catch-up and on-demand TV services as well as BT Sport, Sky Sports and a DVD player if you can drag yourself away from the sea view.

Safety:
Number 2 is fully equipped with mains powered smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on each floor and separate smoke detectors in each of the bedrooms.

Emergency lighting torches are provided throughout the property.

Each floor has a large fire extinguisher, rated for the risks in that area. Reflecting the attention to detail throughout the property, these are finished in a beautiful chrome finish so as not to detract from the luxury feeling of Number 2.

The heating system is subject to annual safety certification and the electrical appliances are also annually tested and inspected.

Other Information:

Arrival pack:
To get you off to a flying start you will find in the property on your arrival basic supplies of tea, coffee and sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, washing up liquid, dishcloths, etc.

The bedding and towels are all of the highest quality from the likes of White Company, Dorma and John Lewis.

Bathroom Consumables:
All of the bathrooms are stocked with luxury hand wash and shower gels from Cole & Lewis of London.

Car Parking:
Two dedicated, secure, underground parking just outside the Cinema Room access door, making unpacking on arrival quick and easy. No lugging heavy cases for miles.

Fantastic weekend at 2 fish cellars
8 of us stayed at the fish cellars for the weekend. What a fantastic property with amazing views on both sides. The house is really well equipped with everything you need . It's just 5 minutes walk to the beach too. We stayed in sunshine but I suspect the views would be equally amazing during a winter storm. The owner provided a welcome pack with all the information you need for your stay and responded really quickly when we had a small problem which was resolved immediately . The bedding and towels and furnishings are really good quality too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Wonderful Fish Cellars
2 Fish Cellars certainly lived up to expectations, everything was just so, enjoyed it immensely, even had a go in the Hot Tub! The views are amazing and we were so lucky with the November weather. However even if it had rained non stop, you could just drink in the views. Certainly will be returning.

Lovely place; tricky for toddlers
The location, and the apartment are lovely with stunning views. The stone spiral staircase is dangerous for toddlers, even with the two gates ( one of which needed mending during our stay). The property was clean and well equipped. The hot water system was not sufficiently regulated to prevent scalding. The fly screen on the door to the deck is necessary because of wasps, but was damaged and could not be opened and closed easily. The hot tub is literally a barrel.

Fantastic in every way!
The views of the sea are majestic and even better when you are sitting in the hot tub sipping a glass of wine. The house is well equipped with everything and the quality is top notch. I loved the welcome bottle of sparkling wine-such a nice touch. Alison is very responsive and when we left our phone behind, she helped in every way to get it back as soon as possible. I would stay here again.

A Glorious stay
Alison’s Communication was great from the start. We were informed of the supermarkets delivering to fish cellars and even provided a service for receiving and putting away the shop before we arrived for a small fee, which was lovely. Beds super comfy, lounge and kitchen comfortable and well equipped. The views are stunning. The local Finnygook inn serves delicious food and has a wonderful, warm atmosphere. We would love to return .

Beachfront Beauty
What an amazing find! Photos couldn't possibly do it justice, this house is one of a kind and absolutely perfectly set up for short and long stays. It's the little touches that count when you go away and what stood out about this property to us was the warm under floor heating, wall mounted fans, portable lights in all the bedrooms, USB and wireless charging points, lots of TV channels including sports, hot tub on the balcony, underground parking, comfortable beds, stunning views and all set on a really secluded communal plot of 3 or 4 houses. This would be a great stay for the summer but it was also the best start to our Christmas holiday (decorations and tree were a really nice touch). We will be back next year hopefully when the sun comes out to fully take advantage of the fantastic location! Thanks to the owners for returning our youngest childs bunny rabbit which we left behind in our hurry to vacate! She was devastated but now happily reunited within 24 hours of letting you know. So kind of you to post it back! The Finnygook is also worth a mention! Excellent Sunday lunch, service and all within walking distance. All in all, an amazing couple of days away in December that we will remember forever. Even though it rained the whole time, the house was that nice that it didn't matter!

Amazing quiet location
We had been to Portwrinkle over 11 years ago, when The Fish Cellars wasn’t a completed accommodation, in fact from memory it was almost left to ruin. Location is amazing, so close to the sea. If you don’t like neighbours too close, or sharing the courtyard this isn’t a place for you, the car park I’ve VERY tight to get in, but manageable in a large 4x4. Had a couple of issues, but they were solved very quickly and even had a visit to check all was okay.

Portwrinkle is pretty quiet, so dont go here if you fancy going out every night. The house itself is well appointed. There was nothing that we needed that wasn't included. I would definitely go again. Don't let the spiral stairs put you off, we took our age 70+ parents along, they loved it.

Fabulous stay right by the beach
We all loved this property and how close it was to both beaches. The house is excellent and gave us and our two teens plenty of space and amazing views. The info pack before arrival is excellent and we managed to get in and out of the car park in a large car. You definitely need a car as it’s remote but that is also the appeal and even on a hot weekend day, there was loads of room on the beach. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would love to return.

Summer holiday bliss!
This property is amazing. It’s so close to the sand and shingle beaches it means you can walk there from 2 The Fish Cellars. The view from the balcony over the cove towards Looe and the west is stunning and we saw some beautiful sunsets, There were 4 of us, my husband, our 2 adult sons and me and there was plenty of rooms and bathrooms for all of us. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy and the kitchen was well equipped for the couple of meals I cooked while we were there . Portwrinkle is a hamlet though so you will need to travel for meals out or if you need groceries. But the fact that this was such a peaceful location made for the relaxing holiday we were looking for. We were also lucky to have 7 sunny days there without a drop of rain! The owner was very helpful and responsive with any queries I had before and during our stay. We would love to return, if we get the chance.

A wonderful time!
One is never sure when booking a holiday on line these days but wow this place is just amazing! This property lived upto our expectations and more with so much room for 6 adults 2 babies and a dog! Everyone in our family were impressed with the facilities especially the hot tub o welcoming after a long drive. The beach being only yards away from the property is so convenient and was safe and secure - and the sun gave us some wonderful days on the beach where the sea comes in at a gentle tide allowing lots of scope for boarding and canoeing. I would thoroughly recommend the Fish Cutters as a holiday destination for any family.

Fantastic place to stay, beautiful location
2 Fish Cellars is a great holiday property, with two living rooms (one being the downstairs cinema room) so good amount of relaxation space, especially with three generations staying. The balcony and hot tub are a lovely addition, and the views from the upstairs living room and balcony are wonderful. The spiral staircase is very wide so not a problem carrying things up and down, and the underground car park is great. Portwrinkle is a lovely place, with great beaches, and a lovely pub (The Finnnygook Inn) up the road at Crafthole. We didn't really feel the need to venture further afield on many days but we did go to Looe on a couple of days. It was a very relaxing break and we very much hope to return.

I want to live here!
The property is in an amazing location, the view is incredible from the balcony and being so close to the beach, listening to the waves is the relaxing experience you need, especially if coming down from London. We rated the location 4* just based purely around the fact that there are little amenities around. But that is also part of the areas charm, you just need to be more prepared for a drive out to the closest town to be able to kit yourself out. The space itself is very well equipped with everything you need for a stay with friends or family. A welcome bottle of Prosecco is a nice touch and there is even information to put you in touch with the local fisherman! The host was super responsive and helpful, with a lot of info to welcome you when you book your stay. Just a short walk from the South Coast path, you can go for a morning hike or a swim in the sea. I’ll be recommending this place to friends and my family, the perfect stay to get out of the city and relax and focus on your wellbeing. We would definitely go back, we fell in love with it’s charm and that view from the hot tub!

We had an excellent - beautiful property, views and location.
The property was accurately described. Well kept and spacious. We enjoyed the stunning views and area. Very unspoilt. Great local cafe, Jolly Roger where we had breakfast outside before walking the dog. Twice we walked 15 mins to the Finnygook Inn for dinner- great pub food. Lots going on in and around the area - particularly enjoyed Padstow (50mins), Eden project (40mins) and Fowey (30 mins). Well worth a visit and enjoyed by all - ( a family of 4 including daughters - one 15 and other 20 plus dog who was welcomed everywhere!).

Disappointed
We arrived to this three bedroom property for a week over Christmas to find that the heating was not working on the lower two floors (cinema room/games room in the basement and the three bedrooms) but was uncontrollably hot on the top floor. The large TV setup for the cinema room was not working and the sink in the family bathroom was blocked so that no water would drain. The owners responded quickly and arranged for a plumber to look at the heating the following afternoon. We, though, suffered our first freezing night with no heat. The plumber worked most of the afternoon but the heating was not fixed. The owner replaced the sink drain unit and sorted the operation of the TV and brought two noisy fan heaters - for the eight rooms on two floors. We had hoped to be able to watch Christmas television and maybe some movies after the Children had gone to bed but with the fan heaters on to make the cinema room at all warm the TV had to be so loud (so we could hear it over the heaters) that the kids couldn’t sleep. Two heaters were insufficient to warm the eight rooms on two floors and we didn’t feel safe leaving fan heaters on at night anyway - so in all we endured three freezing nights. Our third day was again spent corresponding with the owners – who suggested that the fact the property was still cold on the two floors was because underfloor heating is slow to warm up. After a day checking and rechecking all floor areas, fiddling with thermostats and reporting back to the owners, they finally agreed to call the plumber back the following morning. They offered us a full refund if we wanted to leave, but suggested we might like to stay to see if the problem could be resolved. Although our stay to date had been miserable, we didn’t want to disappoint our children further by packing up and heading home if there was a chance the problem could be cured. I had hunted down the full handbook to the system and with the aid of this and another four hours working on the system the plumber finally cured the problems. Apparently, the settings were wrong for every different part of the system. We stayed, confident that the owners had recognised by their refund offer, how miserable the first four days/three nights of our stay had been. After the holiday our confidence was proved misguided. The owners offered a refund of part of the cost of one days stay. We are sadly having to pursue the matter through the courts.
Stayed 7 nights in Dec 2021
