Description: Built designed & decorated by a sculptor & painter, 'el Morusco' is a unique, romantic holiday experience. It is a semidetached house that has been carefully designed by the same owner to maximise privacy to both properties.
There is a 9m long 1.2m wide & 60cm deep plunge-pool to cool off in that is set in a sunken garden that looks North to the mountains. Every detail of the house has been treated as art, from the polished concrete, wood & pebble inlaid floors to the hand furbished stainless steel & glass shower. Much of the furniture & all of the sculpture & painting is made by the artists. The house is situated in the foothills of the Almijara mountains that form part of the Sierra Nevada range. It looks across the olive groves & vineyards to Frigiliana a whitewashed mountain village & Nerja on the Mediterranean coast. Malaga airport is less than an hour away, & the city of Granada is only 100 km from Nerja.
For those guests interested in sharing their holiday experience with friends or family, the neighbouring house is "la Bolina" property 74801 which has an unusually shaped black infinity pool that takes in the 360º breath-taking views.
Situation: "el Morusco" sits in the steep foothills of the Almijara mountain nature reserve & between three villages, Torrox, Frigiliana & Nerja. The roads are windy & narrow, with magnificent views of both mountains & sea. Granada, offering the Alhambra Moorish Palace & the Sierra Nevada ski resort is an hour & a half drive away. Cordoba & Seville two hours. We are also close enough to Morocco to be able to spend a day in Tangiers.
Frigiliana: Frigiliana is a beautiful whitewashed mountain village 6 km. from the coastal town Nerja. The old town dates back to the Phoenicians, the narrow cobbled streets wind between white terraced Moorish houses. The village sits on the edge of a mountain reserve that boasts many wonderful walks. Both towns offer numerous restaurants, bars & other entertainments.
Winter: From October through April there is always a possibility of rain, but now the chance of it is so remote, that we have come to welcome it when it does. It is a perfect time of year for those who enjoy the mountains, walking or exploring the surrounding towns & cities. Granada’s Alhambra, Seville & Cordoba loose the unbearable heat of summer & you have the tourist areas basically to your selves. Christmas & New Year are normally sunny & all of the restaurants are open, although most work with reservation on the festive nights. The Spanish celebrate New Year on the street, it begins with spectacular firework displays in every city, town & village & festivity continues well into the next morning. Spring here begins in February with the almond blossom & yellow clover that line the roads. It’s a good time to visit the little villages around our area & in the Alpujarra mountains south of Granada. If you are into skiing, the Sierra Nevada is famous for its slopes & is less than 2 hours away.
