Enjoy the snow-filled thrills of winter or the endless recreation of summer at this three-bedroom, 4,500 square foot, Trout Lake lodge, a gorgeous property near the base of Mt. Adams, proximity to hundreds of miles multi-use trails for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, and mountain biking, and a truly spectacular position on the banks of the White Salmon River.
Nestled among the pines on six acres of land, this multi-level home offers 625 feet of frontage on the pristine White Salmon River. You'll enjoy both seclusion and convenience just one mile north of Trout Lake village, three miles south of cross-country skiing at Pineside Sno-Park, and 26 miles north of downtown Hood River. This home is also on the edge of Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Mt. Adams Recreation Area, providing incredible access to hiking, snowshoeing, and more.
You'll be greeted by a private circular driveway and a classic covered porch - the perfect place to sip lemonade or hot cocoa after a day of hiking or skiing. The upscale interior features all the character of a mountain cabin, along with luxurious amenities that include soft leather furnishings, central air conditioning, and a stately brick fireplace for cozy evenings at home.
Prepare meals with your loved ones in the open gourmet kitchen, where you can grind fresh coffee beans each morning with views of the river and yard. Sizzle bacon and pancakes on the stainless steel gas range, sit down with the newspaper at the island counter or the four-person breakfast nook, or set the large 12-person dining room table for a leisurely family breakfast.
Leave the plates in the dishwasher for easy clean-up and spend your days in the wonders of the great outdoors. Play a game of cards at the table on the deck as the river babbles beneath you, or light the gas grill for an afternoon barbecue at the picnic table in the grass. You'll even have access to a covered pavilion with a stone fireplace for special gatherings with family, friends, or coworkers.
As the sun begins to lower each evening, snuggle up with your children around the firepit on the porch, use the WiFi to plan the next day's adventures, and tell ghost stories late into the night.
Just be sure to save time for a few hours of fun in the media room, where you'll find a 70-inch cable TV (basic cable only) with indoor/outdoor surround sound, a DVD player, and a small collection of movies to choose from. Feeling a bit more competitive? Choose teams for tournaments of pool, foosball, or poker, or simply grab a book from the shelves and retreat to the comfort of bed.
With three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, the Riverwood Lodge will accommodate eight guests (although it provides beds for only six). The three quaint bedrooms are all upstairs, offering one king-size bed, one queen-size bed, and two twin beds, respectively, as well as a queen-size pull-out bed. And whether you choose to spend your time river rafting or skiing, you'll always come home to a washer/dryer for your clothes.
If your group is a bit larger, please keep in mind that this home can be rented with an adjoining guest house above the garage. That listing, the Riverwood Lodge & Guest House, offers a total of four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and space for up to 10 guests. Event use available for an extra fee. Please ask reservationists via telephone for more information.
A stunning escape for families, winter athletes, summer trekkers, and mountain bikers, this Trout Lake lodge is ideal in every season. In times of heavy snowfall, guests will have ski-in/ski-out access to the cross-country and snowmobile trails at Pineside Sno-Park three miles up the road. You'll even have views of the peak of Mt. Adams as you drive along the road to the house.
The summer months are a time for hiking, river rafting, and backpacking in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mt. Adams Recreation Area, and other tracts of awe-inspiring wilderness that surround you. Sign up for a white water excursion on the White Salmon River with River Drifters or Wet Planet Whitewater, take a windsurfing lesson in Hood River 26 miles south, or spend some time touring the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. Mountain bikers will also have no shortage of traffic-free roads in the immediate area around Trout Lake.
