The property is generally good and pleasant. However, a few maintenance issues need attention. The luggage rack and the shower and handwash sink plumbing fittings require fixing. Additionally, the wall-mounted TV shelf has been removed, leaving some holes that should be filled. Addressing these concerns would improve hygiene and create a better impression for guests.

We really enjoyed our stay - however the property was lovely but a little tired and decor a bit out of date. The food was acceptable but not brilliant, on some days some of the breakfast items were cold. My daughters burger at dinner was also cold. However these elements were compensated for by the fantastic staff, they were all so lovely, friendly but not intrusive, and would do anything for you. The spa pool was nice (but again not quite as clean as I would like), and I was disappointed that with such beautiful views that the windows were quite dirty. We did find it a shame, that although advertised as a family spa hotel. 1, there are no treatments available on Sunday or Monday (not great if you are there for a weekend stay), and 2, they would not offer any treatments for under 18s - while I understand that for some treatments, I think a kids manicure or something similar would be a great addition to their offering. Location was great, and a nice walk to the local pub, and Haverthwaite railway. In summary - nice, but with a few non-expensive tweaks, likc of paint etc it could be amazing.

Not a 4 star
It was average certainly not a 4 star. The staff were undynamic, . The foyer not a comfortable place to sit, no character at all. general decor is quite dull. The bar was bland. Saying that the rooms are clean and the Bed was comfortable, the bathroom in general was very clean. sink plug faulty, I left a note in the room. Dinner at the restaurant was quite nice but the main was not a very large portion for the price however it did taste nice. Breakfast has a lot better than I expected plenty of things to eat. Plenty of car parking 🅿️ What clinched the deal was The Spa. It was very convenient and clean including steam room sauna and swimming pool with a gym upstairs. And the staff were very helpful and courteous.

Great location for a peaceful break away in the lakes. The facilities were perfect, the room was spacious with a great view and all the staff I spoke with were polite and gave great customer service. I’ve definitely got another ‘go to’ when I visit the lakes in the future.

Rubbish anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The staff were ok. But the overall break was not!!! We went there to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary on the 2nd August but had to leave on the 2nd as we had arrived on the 1st. The receptionist was very difficult to understand and i thought he had just started as he seemed very confused. I had told the hotel we needed a room near the lift as i am on crutches and cannot walk very far, but he didnt know about it. It was sorted.out though eventually. Later we went for a drink in the bar but it empty, so we went downstairs to the other bar and that was the same, but the barman was abrupt and had a roll-up cigarette behind his ear. We went back upstairs but the bar was still empty. So we went for a meal in the restarent which had only two other people in it. Who left 10 mins later so we were on our own again. The meal was really nice but very expensive for what it was. We left and went to our room at 9pm. There was no coffee in the room as we had the only 2 sachets earlier. The next morning we went for breakfast which was cold and the scrambled egg had grey bits in it. The bacon was cold and the sausages were undercooked.we decided then to leave ear!y as i didnt fancy spending another night in such hopeless atmossphere. Especially as it was the day of our anniversary. So we paid our bill for the meal and said we were checking out early, and nobody asked for a reason. We definately will not be staying there again.

The receptionist and the waitress are not too friendly. The utensils in the restaurant is stained and with different sizes. Buffet breakfast with a range of food selection but not delicious. The building as a whole is old and fairly maintained. Only good point is the swimming pool and other wellbeing facilities at this price.

Needs work
Hotel is very old and outdated, food in the restaurant was very expensive and not worth the money, the steak was full of gristle The breakfast wasn’t too bad just small selection and the scrambled egg was like slop. The rooms were tired and very old fittings although the bathrooms has been revamped. For the price it cost £435.00 for 2 nights and 1 meal @£104.00 it wasn’t worth it.
