Also ideal for holidays with bicycles. These are safely stored in the courtyard, it is completely surrounded by stone walls and can be reached directly from the rear street (pedestrian zone) via a lockable gate.
The house is located on the outside of the old town, directly by the sea, along the former city wall. The courtyard offers peace and shade, in front of the house is a picturesque sun terrace with seating and a parasol directly on the beach promenade. The sea is about 5 meters from the house, the bathing bay has been secured with natural stone slabs to a comfortable lying area. With the local slow train you can also easily go to other bathing bays. The thick stone walls keep the building cool, the air conditioning in the living area on the ground floor can be used as a support if desired. In addition to the dining area, there is also a sofa on the ground floor that can be converted into a sleeping space for 2 people. A decorative fireplace complements the ambience. The kitchen is also on the ground floor, accessible from the living area. It is small but complete and functional.
A separate wooden staircase leads to the upper floor where the bedroom is located. There is a double bed made according to the historical model and a pull-out sofa, also suitable for 2 people as a comfortable sleeping place. The bedroom has access to the shower and toilet.
In the immediate vicinity there are several restaurants with a wide range of Mediterranean dishes. Within a few kilometers you will find both gourmet restaurants (including a focus on the Istrian truffles found there) and renowned wineries at an internationally award-winning level. The local olive oils are top notch. A variety of interesting medieval towns are only a few minutes away by car, such as Motovun or the artist village Groznjan. Along the coast are the cities of Novigrad, Porec, Rovinj or Pula, to name just a few.
In the wider area (80 km) is the Adelsberger Grotte (Postojnska jama) in Slovenia. Venice is reached by speedboat once a week, ideal for a day trip. Trieste is also ideal for a day trip. The impressive Brijuni National Park (an archipelago off Istria), which can be visited with special boat tours, is less than an hour's drive away.
In the season from May to October there is a multitude of cultural offers in the area of the city of Umag, from classical concerts to techno festivals. A small museum, reachable in 5 minutes on foot, gives an impression of the historical Umag.
The sporting offers in the surrounding area include good signposted cycling and hiking trails, diving, sailing, tennis etc. Umag is also known for the annual international ATP tennis tournament.
