Secluded Cabin on 1000 Acre Ranch Between Lost Maples & Garner

Kat's Kabin, located at 1555 Lemond Rd, Utopia, TX, is a beautiful, secluded ranch cabin on 1000 private acres of the Four Sisters Ranch. Located in the most scenic part of the Texas Hill Country, right between Lost Maples and Garner State Park.

This fully furnished cabin features one large room with two queen beds (sleeps 4), on one end and a full kitchen on the other. In between is a small couch and TV. We have two porches, shaded BBQ area, patio, wildlife feeders and a fire pit. (Note: the cabin is not suitable for young children who would need a separate place to nap.)

We have internet, a smart TV and also a DVD with popular movies.

You can enjoy the sounds of nature, wildlife and a beautiful night sky. You may see a variety of wildlife from the porch including deer, turkey, wild hogs and hummingbirds.

Located 90 mi NW of San Antonio and 7 mi from Utopia. The cabin is about 15 miles from Lost Maples State Natural Area and 23 miles from Garner State Park. The Hill Country State Natural Area is about 45 minutes away.

Our curvy, scenic roads boast fantastic hill country views. Local activities: Golf in Utopia (the setting for the movie 7 Days in Utopia). Go swimming at Utopia Park on the Sabinal River, Float the Frio River. Hike at Garner Park. Go birding at Lost Maple Park. Gaze at the stars. Photograph the picturesque hill country views. BBQ on the patio. Visit Lost Maples winery. The Texas hill country is a wonderful year around birding & wildlife viewing destination! We are in one of the best areas of Texas to see the Golden Cheeked Warbler, Black Capped Vireo, Vermilion Flycatcher and more!

Dine at the fabulous Laurel Tree in Utopia (requires a reservation) and Mac & Ernies in Tarpley for a fantastic dining experience! Our local cafe is also good and has great pie!

We will give you a ranch tour in our jeep or leave you in complete privacy. Your choice. You will be surrounded by nature in a gorgeous hill country setting. You will see a brilliant starry sky when it's clear and usually fire flies in the summer months.

The nearest airport is in San Antonio (~1.5 hr drive). Austin is an ~ 3 hour drive.

Other Things to Note One night bookings will be considered in some circumstances. Send an inquiry. For major holidays, a three night minimum is required. Utopia is a very small community with a general store, bank, gas station, cafes and a few shops. Limited groceries are available at the general store. The nearest large grocery store and hospital is 45 miles ( Hondo, Kerrville or Uvalde). Cell phone service is very limited, only AT&T and Consumer Cellular works and it is spotty. We do have wireless internet so you can possibly have phone service in the cabin should wifi calling be turned on your phone.

GPS will get you in the area but wants to take you beyond the cabin. Take Hwy 187 north from Utopia. In 3 miles go left on West Sabinal Rd. Continue until you get to Lemond Rd. Take a left on Lemond and continue until you get to 1555. You can see the cabin when you turn in at 1555. Look for the Four Sisters Ranch signs at the turns.

We have a 2nd cabin about .3 miles away. Four Sisters Ranch Cabin is also listed if you want to book both cabins for a family get away.

If you want to go to one of the State parks you will need to make a reservation online 30 days ahead of time.

Great nature getaway!
This little cabin is exactly what we were hoping for! Secluded, great covered patios in front and back, and back patio is so relaxing! Hummingbird feeder, bird feeders and birdbath all get a lot of activity, plus a great view of the deer, turkeys and hogs when they come out to eat. This place had everything we needed…charcoal grill, cookware, coffee, etc. very clean as well. Buddy the cat was great company too! Definitely would come back!

Adorable, Peaceful, Well-Equipped
This property is fantastic. It’s so well cared for with the owners nearby. It’s laid out as one large open room with sleeping, living, cooking and eating zones all in one space, and a separate bathroom. The cabin, on a ranch, is very peaceful and surrounded by a combination of trees, grassland, wildlife and hills in the distance. The owners feed the deer, and the deer were quite present. Beds were comfortable (one firm and one softer mattress) with lots of pillows. My mother and I loved this peaceful place “out in the country”.

From the time we arrived until we left was all about fun and relaxation. The ride around the ranch with Butch was wonderful. Kat was very helpful with everything we needed. Beautiful property with lots of deer and turkey. Enjoyed watching the rain storm come in on the porch. Will definitely be going back.

The stars at night, are big and bright…
…deep in the heart of Texas! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday weekend at Kat’s Kabin! We golfed in Utopia (Seven Days In Utopia movie is a must see for any golfer), ate lunch at the Lost Maples Cafe and dinner at Mac and Ernie’s Roadside Eatery, which was recommended by our host. And we’re so glad we made the little drive to Tarpley! The food was delicious! Oh the carrot cake! Yum! The drive to/from the ranch to Mac and Ernie’s was beautiful. We returned to the ranch and set up the lounge chairs in the front yard and watched the sky come to life with so many stars. Followed closely by a meteor shower. It was amazing! The next day, after a leisurely morning on the back porch watching the hummers, deer, birds of many kinds and the cabin’s cat, we checked out Lost Maples State Park. It was too hot to hike but we got a glimpse of the maple trees. Can’t wait to see them in the fall. Dinner at the Laurel Tree, another recommendation from our host, was delicious! It’s a hidden gem in the middle of this tiny town. Another evening was spent under the stars and meteors with a nice bottle of red wine. The cabin was clean, very well appointed, private, full of life with nature all around. Kat was the perfect host; kept in touch and provided great info. They were nearby if we needed anything. We’re already planning a trip back to Kat’s Kabin this fall. Ten star host and property! ⭐️

Wildlife Paradise
This is a nature lovers paradise. The secluded cabin was very comfortable, clean, and surrounded by wildlife including birds, deer, and feral hogs. There are multiple bird feeders maintained by the host as well as a corn feeder for the deer and hogs. The hosts are fantastic and readily available but not intrusive. The optional ranch tour is not to be missed. Nearby Lost Maples State Natural Area and Garner State Park offer opprotunities for outdoor adventures. Folks in these parts are warm and welcoming. We could not have enjoyed our stay more.

Nature Lover's Dream
We had such a wonderful stay at Kat's Kabin for our anniversary. It is secluded, quiet, and most of all, peaceful - a welcome retreat from city life, perfect for unplugging and just immersing in the countryside. The moment we stepped inside, we felt so welcomed by the freshly baked cranberry bread loaf Kat left for us. Absolutely enjoyed the attention to detail with amenities and Texan decor, inside and out. The highlights definitely included the outdoor seating areas (gorgeous trees and wildflowers), perfect for viewing the stars at night or bird-watching during the day (hummingbirds and other beautiful birds galore). We were even lucky enough to see rabbits, deer, wild turkey, and hogs from the back porch! And of course, we loved our visit from the friendly Buddy the cat and Tuffy the dog. Easy drive to Garner State Park! We highly recommend this cabin for anyone and look forward to coming back in the future.
