About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Rustic River Cabin under the Oaks and just a short walk to the river.

Come enjoy the peace and quiet of the Texas Hill Country, while relaxing in the cool waters of the Dry Frio River. This cabin is nestled under a canopy of live oak trees and just a short walk to the river. The Dry Frio River gets its name from the fact that the spring fed river meanders under the rocks at times, giving the appearance of a dry creek bed. This means the water is always cold, even in the hot summer months!
The air conditioned cabin has a simple, rustic feeling. The family room has high ceilings with comfy leather sofa and loveseat. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and plenty of cookware. The cozy master bedroom has a stone fireplace and a queen-size bed, with room for a portable crib if needed. The spacious bathroom has a lovely clawfoot bathtub/shower. There is loft area with two full-size beds and a beautiful view of the huge live oak trees.
Outside there is ample seating on the covered porch and around the fire-pit. A charcoal grill is available for those outdoor cook-outs. Just down the road, a short walk, is a community park area with a covered pavilion and outdoor activities. Wi-Fi is also available at the park area.
This is a great place for star gazing, hiking, fishing, swimming, nature watching, unwinding and making memories.

***This is the Texas Hill Country, complete with all the critters, big and small. Please bring appropriate protection, (bug spray, water shoes, hats, sunscreen, etc) to ensure you have a safe trip. Remember to respect the land, water, animals, and the people who reside here, but most of all enjoy the simple peace and quiet it has to offer.

The bathtub was a mess. It had standing water in it. I wouldn’t even bathe the whole 4 days we were there. Other than that it was ok. Missed having water to get into.

Beautiful Area but has Pest Issue
Host was very communicative before stay but we could not contact during stay as there's no cell service. Pros - beautiful area, fire pit, picnic table, cold A/C downstairs Cons- mice, mice droppings, scorpions inside and outside, lots of bugs inside which would not have been an issue, but there were scorpions and wasps inside and we had young kids with us, ant infestation in the kitchen, mattress/mattress pad dirty, stairs to loft seemed very unsafe, hot water in bathroom, but not in kitchen, no A/C upstairs, ver hot. We really liked the cabin, but not the stairs to the loft or the mice/ants/scorpions/wasps.

Spring break
Had a lovely get away, it is important to know that this cabin has no cell service or WiFi at the cabin. This is important information to know ahead of time if you have chronically ill family you need to be available for.

Vacation stay
Pictures showed river flowing within walking distance. No water within 30 miles for kids to swim. Paid $60.00 for kids to swim for the day. The cabin was nice. Kids loved the deer. Would of been nice to be given notice prior to arrival to get money back. Kind of misleading.

It was a very quiet place and cozy. It could use a little sprucing up but we wanted a get away. It was a 30-40 minute to the closest town and or the river.

We absolutly loved our stay. The cabin was perfect for a getaway weekend. the dear came right up to us for treats. the river was clean and beautiful. We will 100% stay again. Being out of phone range was exactly what we needed. My husband enjoyed connecting with the family he has in the area and showing me the towns. Thank you so much. We look forward to our next stay.

Simple & Cozy
This was our 2nd stay here and Kay has a wonderful property. It’s out of the way a bit but that was perfect for our family. The kids can run around, swim and fish to their hearts content. The cabin is simple yet has everything you need. We highly recommend her property for any stay where you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle.

Peace & Quiet
At first the thought of no cell service and the distance from town a little concerning, but it is so peaceful! The ac was cold, the beds were comfortable, and it was nice having deer walk w/in 10 yards of you. The scenery is great and it's a pretty drive back to the property, would stay again!

Summer Fun with family
Stayed at this property for the second summer in a row with my granddaughter and her infant son. We always come each year since she was 13 to float in the river at Garner State park and have quality time together. The house and property are shady and cool. The house needs an exterminator because various insects in every room were spotted and swatted. Old couch might have bed bugs as I was bitten twice. I still adore the property and understand about insects so the bugs won’t keep me from coming back. The fire flies and deer are just to die for and the peace and quiet are heavenly.

Rustic River Cabin
Cabin is very rustic. The property is located on a beautiful ranch. We were driving to Garner state park everyday to be with family. The drive was around 30 miles, but the scenery was beautiful. We saw stars at night ,horses and deer.My husband and I stayed seven nights. There are two cabins close by but they were not being used all week. The place was quiet and peaceful. Will stay again in the fall.
