La Casa de las Chimeneas is located in Tudes, winner of the contest Pueblo de Cantabria 2010, a small, beautiful and sunny village where neighbors still live from the herd and you can see their animals passing through the streets. The jury of the contest highlighted its "character of typical mountain village with high ethnographic value within an exceptional landscape enclave". -
The House is an old farm carefully restored and adapted to create eight rural homes with great charm and splendid views of the Picos de Europa. The original architecture has been preserved to the maximum, thus preserving the character and rustic atmosphere of the place. Surrounded by its own wall, the group forms a small town within the town.
The houses (of one, two and three rooms) are independent and spacious, and have a lot of light and a cheerful decoration that includes mural paintings inspired by medieval illustrations. They offer all modern comforts to make your stay comfortable and pleasant (fireplace, heating, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, digital TV by antenna, etc).
The common areas include a social lounge (with pool table, large screen TV, free Internet access, maps, games, a library and a large fireplace), table football and other games in the courtyard, an attractive infinity pool (acclimatized degrees in summer by solar panels), garden and an area to have a drink under a beautiful wooden doorway.
In January 2009 the owners opened a nice and cheerful tavern in the village, where you can have drinks of all kinds, have breakfast, eat rations and play pool or darts
Just 10 minutes from Potes, the most important locality and center of social life in the area, Tudes - and La Casa de las Chimeneas - are the perfect base to explore the beautiful Liébana Valley and the Picos de Europa with its extraordinary landscape and its spectacular flora and fauna (including abundant raptors, a fantastic variety of flowers and, in the highlands, brown bears and wolves). The owners, escaped from the city, run the business themselves and live with their children next to the establishment.
Protected by the mountains that surround it, Liébana enjoys its own micro-climate (almost Mediterranean in summer) and is only an hour away from the Cantabrian beaches.
