Beautiful Gaffaro Apartment in Dorsoduro with Canal View

This charming second-floor apartment was completely restored and refurbished in 2004. Features Italian marble floors, hand-cut mosaic detail in the bathroom, Venetian chandeliers.

Master bedroom with full-size double bed, parquet flooring, fitted wardrobe, Venetian chandelier. Sofa bed in living room pulls out to double bed.
The kitchen is fully fitted and is divided from the living room by a worktop and breakfast bar. Living room has sofa and dining table for 6.
It has air conditioning, floor heating and internet wi-fi.

Our apartment is located in the university district and just two bridges from Campo Santa Margherita which is noted on Public Places ''60 of the Worlds Greatest Places'' list and it is the largest square in Venice and a popular hangout for Venetians young and not so young. It has a great choice of restaurants and cafes and a vegetable and fish market. You can sit in the sun and enjoy a coffee or a cocktail and watch the world go by.


The Gaffaro apartment (named after the bridge it overlooks) is conveniently located for your arrival and departure as it is a short walk from the train station and the bus station at Piazzale Roma. You can walk to Rialto in 15 minutes and get to St. Mark's square in 20 minutes by taking the vaporetto at San Toma'.

Great Venice apartment

Our host met us to check us in. The location is close to the train station yet overlooks two canals. Very convenient with everything you need for a great stay. We highly recommend.

Best spot in Venice

I had the most lovely stay here. Sebastino is absolutely wonderful. A true Venetian local. He showed me where he went to Elementary School down the canal! This apartment was perfect for my artist getaway. It was March and I had lots of rainy mornings but it was so perfect to sit in front of the window and sip my coffee and paint the canal and bridges and passersby. The bed was really comfortable and shower hot with good pressure. It was in a wonderful location by the train station and Vaparetto stops and has some great local eats close by. I love this sweet apartment with an amazing view and hope to be back when I visit Venice again.

Great location

Perfect location to view Italian life. From the ease of getting to the apartment from the train station or bus station, to just viewing everyday life on the sidewalks and canals. The view from the windows in the apartment is beautiful. The unit is stocked with a great amount of supplies to get your vacation started.We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great location with canal view

Host Sebastiano was friendly, informative, and available. We loved that the property is a short walk to the bus depot yet far enough away to be out of sight. There is a view of two canals complete with occasional gondolas passing by. Super clean, and well appointed for two people. As stated in the ad, it is up two flights of stairs, but we are in our 70's and had no trouble. Close to several restaurants and a short walk to the Conad grocery. Overall it was a great place to serve as the base for our extended stay in Venice. Highly recommended.

Rooms with a View!

Our memories and photos of this beautiful apartment overlooking three bridges and gondola-strewn canals will have to last until we return to Venice. If it is still available, we would most certainly stay here again. After 6 nights, it felt like our home away from home and was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our host, Sebastiano, communicated clearly at all times, made check-in and check-out simple, was accessible throughout our stay and was a delight to meet in person. With the apartment situated on the second floor, we enjoyed having a view of the canals from above as well as the security of three well-locked doors between the entrance and ourselves. Well-located near enough to transportation hubs - Piazzale Roma, Ferrovia train station and several vaporetti/water taxi stops - to be convenient, but far enough away to provide a quiet haven from the tourist masses, the apartment was ideal for us. For our breakfast, we alternated between Sebastiano’s recommended neighborhood cafe, Al 133, and one of Venice’s best bakeries, Pasticceria Tonolo, both within an easy walk. We were spoiled by the many great options for take-away food, gelato, ciccheti, cocktails and dinner. Having stayed in many properties since VRBO first started, we give this one our highest recommendation!

An absolute gem of an experience!!

Our host was fantastic. He took the time to give us wonderful suggestions of places to eat, things to see, and vendors to use. He was incredibly responsive and friendly. Went above and beyond with customer service. The apartment is in a great area of town. Easily walkable to food and transportation! Lots of space for our family to have breakfast each morning. Kitchen had all the necessities we could need. Having laundry in the apartment was a nice touch. Wi-fi signal was strong. I was able to work and the kids were able to stream a movie at night. Highly suggest!!

Our Venice stay

Venice was our first stop for our 3 weeks in Italy. After our perfect stay in gaffaro apartment we can only hope the rest of our trip is as wonderful! Perfect apartment

Great apartment with beautiful canal view

Wonderful stay in Venice. The apartment provides everything we need with a beautiful canal view. Plenty eateries, restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Less than 5 min walk to bus station and 10 min walk to the train station, super convenient location. The host Sebastiano is very friendly and patient. He provides some great tips about how to get to get around Venice. Highly recommend!

Great location reasonably priced

We had a great stay at this property. Sebastian’s met us on time and provided us with a tour of the property, and suggestions for touring the area. The apartment was spotless and very well equipped with full kitchen washing machine R and ample storage and had some of the best views in Venice right from your windows. Near entrance to la Serrinisima

This was our second stay at Gaffarro Apartment, and we are looking forward to our third. It is a 15 minute walk from Piazzale Roma, the big center for buses (As in, from the airport…) and vaparettos; maybe 20 from the train station, handy to many tourist-friendly trattorias, cafes, bakeries etc, with grocery stores fairly convenient by P Roma and Campo Santa Marguerita (great for a drink and people -watching ). This apartment is fully equipped (superb Wi-Fi), with the best set of kitchen equipment I’ve ever seen in a short-term rental. Sebastiano greeted us in the street on our arrival, was right there via email for any number of questions and special requests.

Comfortable apartment in a good location

Sebastiano is a kind and accommodating host. The apartment is lovely - each morning as I sat drinking coffee with the windows open, I enjoyed watching and listening as the neighborhood came to life, boats moving along the three canals just below the apartment. The apartment was furnished with everything I needed. The Dorsurdo location was 10 minutes walk to Piazzale Roma and vaporetto stops and many great restaurants. I definitely recommend this apartment.

Wonderful apartment in a quieter part of Venice and a 10min walk from Santa Lucia train station. Beautiful view of canal greets you in the morning and we walked to the major sights. And also a big thank you to our host Sebastiano, who is so kind and understanding when our train was delayed and still met us at the apartment at midnight. Hope to be back one day!

Venice on the Canal

This property was outstanding. The view was perfect, looking right down a canal. We can't say enough good things about it. Not realizing that Venice is a walking city, it was close to the transportation center and within walking distance from restaurants and all the transactions. The property itself was fantastic. We had a rain out day and spent it in the apartment which felt very roomy. It was well stocked for cooking which we do for some of our meals.

A great stay in Venice

We had a fantastic stay in Venice, and the historic property is ideally located for arrival, departure, and getting around in Venice on foot or by boat. And with a great view onto the canals! Sebastiano met us outside when we arrived and gave us all of the information we needed about the property and to make the most of our time in Venice. He was also available throughout our stay if we needed anything further. I would highly recommend his place!
