Excellent hotel, in a great situation.
We've stayed at this hotel three times now. Modern rooms, with air-con and modern furniture. Good choice of food at the buffet breakfast. Staff very helpful. Moreover, the hotel is very convenient for all the bars and restaurants of Mestre. The hotel is only a 2-3 minute walk from Piazzale Cialdini, from where you can catch various buses, but also the trams which run to Venice, or down to Marghera via Mestre railway station. To Venice takes about 20 mins on the tram, and about 10 minutes to Mestre railway station. From the station, you can catch trains to loads of interesting destinations: Verona, Vicenza, Treviso, Ferrara and Padua, to name just a few.

Perfect place for a Venice visit if you do not want to stay on the island which was important for us since we had a very early flight to catch on our departure. It’s a five minute walk to get to the bus or tram to Venice and lots of restaurants and bars are in walking distance right in the city center. Breakfast buffet is sufficient and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are neat and clean with daily housekeeping service

We stayed at this hotel only for one night at the end of our two-week travel in Italy. We were looking for a property with parking (we had a rental car and it seemed almost impossible to find a reasonable place with parking in Venice). The folks at the reception were very nice, helpful and efficient. There was an elevator (important if you have heavy suitcases like we did). The hotel most certainly will benefit from the renovation and furniture update in the rooms. That said, here's what's going for it: it's close to the airport (about 10 min drive) which was a huge plus for us because of an early flight; there's a bus stop right outside of the hotel where one can catch a bus, which, we understand, will take you to Venice in 20 min or so; the room was OK, nothing to write home about, clean, the furniture was outdated and the bathroom was small, the amenities were scarce...I guess you get what you're paying for and the price was right for us and met our needs. I believe there's a couple of restaurants in the vicinity and some pastry shops. There's a Lidle grocery store on the way to the airport, but not within walking distance to the hotel though. Anyway, it seems that the hotel will be good for budget travelers.

A good hotel at a great price.
We chose this hotel for the other good reviews it had received. We have visited Venice many times but were impressed by the lower prices available in the Mestre/Marghera area, and knew that we could get into Venice with a short inexpensive bus ride. The hotel was very good and we'd certainly stay there again. The staff are very helpful, full of info about where to catch buses etc. It is in the centre of Mestre but in a quiet area, with a number of attractive pedestrianised streets and squares in the surrounding area. It is a two minute walk to Piazza Cialdini where you can catch the 4L buses or new trams to Venice. a one-way ticket is 1.5 euros. There are plenty of pleasant places to eat nearby. One branch of the tram system also goes to the Mestre railway station, if you need. It also runs on through the residential area of Marghera where there is a fabulous street market on a Saturday (exit the tram at the Mercato stop). Our only criticism of the hotel is perhaps the room was a little small, however the bathroom was a decent size with a good sized shower cubicle. There was a small safe built into the wall and also a refrigerator. The room had air conditioning too. Breakfast was typical for a budget Italian hotel, but there was plenty of it; you cold eat as much as you liked. Wifi was fast. Will definitely stay there again if staying in Mestre.

Hotel Aurora is a great budget hotel. Located in Mestre district it is about a 25 min tram ride to the centre, but it is very easy. Around the hotel are plenty of shops and restaurants which are cheaper than the centre. I felt safe in the local area being a solo female traveller. The reception were also very helpful and informative.

Switched rooms after a couple of days. In the first room: someone else's hair in the sheets, many bugs, quite worn and dirty, the shower was too small to shower with the curtain closed so had to wet the whole floor. The second room was much better and more spacious. It was cleaner, but the shower drain was clogged and water would back up. They tried to fix it but it didn't work. I was told I was "unlucky", which really wasn't an appropriate response. The place is older and simply has maintenance issues. The staff was somewhat grumpy and inflexible, but we kept it cordial, despite a few inappropriate comments on their part. It's fine to stay in if you get a good price and don't mind a place that's a bit dingy, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Breakfast was alright - some items were fresh, some were stale. The hotel is near a large plaza with lots of shops and restaurants and is just behind a bus station.
