The Little Pink House is a unique, charming cosy home in the heart of the old village. It has been lovingly restored and has a wealth of character features, with careful thought given to detail using many of the local artisans to make stained glass windows, intricate ironwork and incredible carpentry. The house is very small and open plan, it used to be a hayloft with animals kept on the ground floor!
It has been refurbished to a very high standard with beams, old floorboards and exposed stone work. There is underfloor heating and a luxurious powerful shower, a beautiful well equipped oak kitchen and dining area, and a comfy living room .
It is very light and airy with 2 superb balconies offering stunning mountain views and one terrasse with table and chairs and a picturesque vine. A perfect spot to unwind and watch the world go by!
The village centre with its bustling cafes, shops, restaurants, thermal Spa centre and regular market is a two minute walk away.
This little holiday home is a real gem and will leave you with magical memories of a wonderful stay.
There is SO much to do and see in this wonderful Catalan village in the heart of the Pyrenees, you will be really spoiled for choice! If action is your thing there are walks, hikes and bike rides from your doorstep. In the area you can ride, climb, ski, sail, windsurf, and go canyoning. There is a fabulous open air swimming pool complex, complete with water slides, about 5 minutes walk from the Little Pink House and there is equally a tennis club next to this and a boulodrome for a relaxing (or competitive!) game of Petanques. In August the village is flooded with some of the world's top athletes competing to run up the nearby beautiful Canigou mountain. In the summer months there are plenty of activities in the village square from traditional Catalan dancing to giant paellas and bingo!
For a slower pace of life you can wander the ancient cobbled streets of nearby Eus, home of local artists, and the ancient fortified village of Villefranche - sur - Conflent, literally on your doorstep. Relax in the village natural thermal Spa centre. Take a cable car up into the mountains for some sumptuous local cuisine or relax in one of the many cafes, usually in just a t-shirt as temperatures can often be over 20 degrees even in the winter!! Cool off in the spectacular local caves or take the Petit Train Jaune into the mountains, or head to the sea to visit the beautiful fishing town of Collioure. There is really so much to see and do, you will need to come back again and again!!
Your host, Sarah, has been a regular visitor to Vernet for over 20 years and will do everything possible to make your stay a happy one.
*Please note that there is no parking next to the house. The nearest parking is about 200m away and access to the Little Pink House is on foot down quite a steep hill.*
