Holidays To Warwick
When you say “Cheese!” in the cosy town of Warwick, you might be grinning in front of a beautiful (or possibly stinky) wheel of cheese instead of a camera.
That’s because this small town of roughly 5000 residents is all about the artisanal cheese.
Of course, there’s more to Warwick than just a few slices of provolone. During your Warwick holiday, you’ll appreciate its out-of-the-way-ness as an opportunity to kick back and enjoy small-town life. As in the rest of Québec, you’ll notice that Warwick not only embraces the French language, but also shows off a distinctly European look and feel. You may even wonder if you accidentally stumbled into Warwick, England, the town its Québec counterpart was named after when it was founded in 1861.
Things to Do in Warwick
Little Warwick isn’t exactly the entertainment capital of Canada, but that’s part of its charm. If you need some time to unwind, Warwick is where it’s at. This is the place to get away from all the noise so you can charge your batteries.
Of course, if you happen to consider Warwick packages for the middle of June, then you will certainly find the town in a tizzy as it gets ready for its famous summer cheese festival. The stinkier, the better! Put your palate to the test and don’t forget to pack up some of the stinkiest cheeses for your friends and family back home (though you might need to sacrifice your luggage after this particular trip).
As nice as it feels to catch some R&R in Warwick, the town also has the added benefit of being located between two of the largest cities in Québec—Montréal and Québec City. When you’ve had enough of strolling along the scenic Rue d’ Angouleme, you can grab one of Wotif’s Warwick car hire deals and drive the 148 km to Québec City or the 154 km to Montréal.
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
Warwick holidays are not particularly known for shopping until dropping, though you can find some good souvenirs at the local shops. The real shopping is in Québec City and Montréal, where you can find plenty of large shopping centres and boutique stores. In particular, the Petit Champlain district in Old Québec is a must-visit for great knickknacks that one friend or another will proudly keep in their curio cabinet.
If you visit any part of Québec during March and April, you’ll be swimming in maple, so get ready to gorge on maple butter, taffy and oceans of syrup. And the nightlife in Warwick might be a relaxing stroll down the Boulevard Saint-Louis, which is very beautiful and pleasant. However, if you’d rather be swinging your hips and dusting off your sweet robot dance moves…yep, you guessed it, take a ride up to Montréal or Québec City. Since wine is heavily taxed in Québec, the cities are home to great microbrews.
