Stella lake cabin
Lovely, peaceful setting, very relaxing. Close to attractions in Munising. Comfortable. Must read owners' description very literally. I.e., ""stove top" means range top, no oven; "TV" means tv and VCR, no cable or broadcast access. (We did enjoy some of the old VHS and DVDs provided). Better directions to house would have helped especially after dark. We'd rent this location again.

Anniversary and Fishing Trip
We always enjoy fishing at the various lakes as well as Stella Lake. Lonny and Tammy always warmly welcome us. We appreciated the improvements they made this year! If you are looking for peace and quiet in the beauty of a natural setting, this spot is perfect! This is our third anniversary we have spent here.

Love this cabin!
My family stayed at Stella Lake for a week and had the absolute best time! The cabin is remote, quiet and peaceful with breathtaking views of the lake. Our kids had the best time fishing off the dock and with the row boat. Being pet friendly is a must for us and our dogs had the best time as well. My favorite thing was being able to sit on the deck and see everything, including the hummingbirds. They visited daily! The cabin is a simple set up, nothing fancy - just as it should be. Everything you need is right there. The owner stopped by to say hello and make sure we had everything we needed, otherwise we saw no one else. We had just the very best experience and would love to return one day.

Secluded stay
First off let me explain my rating on cleanliness. I completely and totally understand being secluded and there being rodents and bugs. What i felt was not clean is the musty smell which was strong. I carry air fresheners and fixed the situation quickly. A couple of air fresheners would easily defuse the smell. For those that have commented on the “brown water and stains on the tub and toilet- thats well water, that will happen. The cabin is very secluded but in a very prime location. Munising is only about 35 minutes away- which has a laundry mat and awesome shopping as well as done very breathtaking falls and sights! Pete’s Lake was close and had a beach and very clear water for swimming in. The accommodations were perfect for us and it was just what we needed to rejuvenate! The falls around the area are a must as is Buckhorn resort for dinner! The host was extremely polite in my conversations. Thank you for sharing your home! It definitely has beauty to it!

Secluded and rustic in the middle of the forest
Take a step back in time when everything was simple and easy. The cabin is clean, maintained and has everything you need to be comfortable. The lake is beautiful with plenty of fish to catch. My girlfriend caught a 24” walleye!!! If you are expecting a millennial 5 star experience and don’t want your Tesla, BMW or brand new Audi getting stuck, scratched and dirty this rental is definitely not for you….Lonnie and his wife are very nice and will make sure you have a wonderful stay!!!

Another Amazing Trip
My husband and I and our dog Leti stayed at the cabin for the second time this year. We enjoyed it very much both times. There are so many trails to ride ATVs on around the cabin, you'd never be able to go down all of them. Plenty of lakes around the cabin to fish at including the one right in your back yard at the cabin. The cabin is super secluded, we didn't see a person basically the entire time which was great. We had nightly campfires, Lonnie and his wife make sure there is plenty of wood. There was a brand new flat iron grill, new refrigerator, and was putting in a new window after we were leaving. The cabin is just right for a quiet, relaxing, perfect getaway. We got to meet the hosts Lonnie and Tammy this time, they're super friendly and welcoming. We definitely plan to come back and make it a yearly trip, hopefully twice a year!

Lake Stella Anniversary
We celebrated our 45th anniversary in this peaceful, quiet cottage right on the lake. Beautiful sunsets, evenings by the fire, morning hummingbird visits, lots of fishing in this lake and in those nearby gave us just what we needed. Lonnie and Tamara kept us stocked in dry firewood, and were so nice to answer questions and give us tips on nearby attractions.

Stella Lake near Munising
We had a wonderful time. The cabin was exactly as listed. The fishing was limited by weather but we caught a few. Located in the middle of the woods with no internet and limited cell coverage which is exactly what we were looking for. Within few hours of many wonderful tourist spots and an abundance of other lakes within a few miles. Lots of wood for campfires and no noise except Mother Nature

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It is a secluded, private cabin. Enjoyed the ride in on the dirt road. Was hoping to see some bears but we didn't. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Struggling to even write this
I’m not someone who likes to write bad reviews, and I’m hoping this comes off as informative instead of scathing. I’m absolutely happy that so many other enjoy this cabin, and Lonnie is a super nice guy, but I want to be honest about the level of “rustic” to prevent anyone else from winding up in my situation. I’d like to preface this by saying that I have stayed in several remote rustic old UP cabins throughout the years. This was not my first rodeo with the UP, old cabins, gravel roads, or UP flies. I get it. I stayed at this property for one night. There is a difference between “rustic’” and run down. This property was the latter. Thankfully, I found another place the next morning. Upon arrival, the doors were wide open, which was a little disconcerting. I’m sure it was for ventilation as it was a hot day, but because the screen doors don’t fit the door frames properly, a lot of bugs had gotten in. I went to work with my bug spray can that I always bring, because, again, not my first UP rodeo. Meanwhile, as I’m spraying, I find mouse traps and bait stations in corners. Well, I brought dogs with me, so that won’t work, snapped all the traps and picked the bait stations up. I check out the lower level and then went upstairs to check out the sleeping loft. Apparently a majority of the flies that had come in the gaps around the screen door had settled up there. I didn’t have the time or patience to swat all the flies after driving all day, and I wasn’t going to sleep in that, so we slept downstairs on the pull out sofa. When I went in the bathroom, I notice the water in the toilet and sink was BROWN. Like BROWN. Then I peeked in the shower to find the walls and tub stained with brown from the water. I always bring drinking water to UP cabins because I’m used to it not being very tasty, but usually I can shower in it. There wasn’t a dish, appliance or surface in the kitchen I found clean enough to use. The refrigerator, which was cranked to the max, was barely going to chill anything, and that was probably because the entire inside of the door is broken and has insulation sticking out. It was a hot day when we got there, and there aren’t enough functional windows for adequate ventilation on a hot day. The fans helped. The portable air conditioner was great. Im truly gladly so many other enjoy it and wish Lonnie the best, just wanted to be clear about the condition of the property. I personally did not feel safe or comfortable at all.

Privacy and Isolation
The cottage is basic but included everything needed for a wonderful, relaxing, private vacation. We used the fire pit extensively and had a front row seat to the incredible nighttime stars. There is an indoor wood stove as well for those chilly nights. Pan fish were caught right from the dock and frogs, toads, and chipmunks abounded. My kids even thought they saw a bear through the trees during the drive down the Lake Stella Road and we definitely saw a bear during our hike on Bruno's Run trail. The cottage offered everything we were looking for including privacy, isolation, and silence. However, it is central to activities in the towns along the Great Lakes as we were never more than an an hour and a half's drive from Marquette, Manistique, Grand Marais, and only a 30-40 minute drive to Munising. We engaged in all the favorite activities we have experienced before as well as trying new activities that have become favorites as well. The cottage does not offer a stove so I always bring a crock pot so dinner is ready at the end of a long day of adventures. The sleeping arrangements are for 6 people in 3 double beds in a loft which worked for my immediate family, but there is also a pull out sofa bed downstairs. We will definitely be booking a trip again!

Fabulous Privacy!
We had a terrific time on Lake Stella! The sunsets were beautiful from the dock and the stars were amazing viewed from the fire pit area. We took the rowboat out and swam in the lake. Frogs, toads, squirrels, and chipmunks abounded. The sleeping loft was comfortable with the air conditioner and fans and the sitting and eating areas were ample. We especially loved driving the 2.5 mile dirt/sand road to get to the cabin gate. The seclusion was just what we were looking for. The Hiawatha National Forest surrounds the lake and area, but we were easily able to access the charms of Grand Marais, Munising, and Marquette and enjoy the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We hiked to several waterfalls, but there was so much to do we will have to come back again to complete all the hikes and activities that were on our list!
