Wimberley is only 15 minutes away and offers plenty to do and eat. Visit the galleries and varied shops in the downtown square. Scoot your boots at one of the area dance halls. On the first Saturday of most months, Wimberley comes alive with Market Days, a large and varied flea market. Farther afield (about an hour) and decidedly less rural are Austin and San Antonio. The Hill Country is known for excellent wine, as well as for limestone hills and clear streams. You can work your way from Wimberley west to Fredericksburg tasting wine at any of the hundreds of vineyards. You can even hire a limo to drive you.
Looking for an outing for the day? Take a drive to Canyon Lake and rent a boat or jet skis for a fun afternoon on the water. Check out the music calendar at Whitewater Amphitheater and rock out at a concert! Explore New Braunfels and Gruene and enjoy fabulous restaurants and live music. A day of tubing, kayaking, and rafting on the Guadalupe River is always fun.
Blanco has several popular attractions for outdoorsmen, historians, and foodies. Blanco State Park offers fishing, swimming, and hiking. For those interested in the historical Old West, The Buggy Barn has over 140 covered wagons. Real Ale Brewing Company offers guided tours and a taproom tasting experience.
Further down the road, spend the day exploring Fredericksburg. Travel to Wine Road 290 which offers 19 wineries, all within a few miles of each other. Visit one of Fredericksburg’s two amazing museums: the National Museum of the Pacific War and the Pioneer Museum. During the summer, make sure to stop by a fruit stand and grab some famous Fredericksburg peaches.
