The staff was wonderful. They were very hospitable and very friendly. Nothing was an issue. Everything was 10/10 with this property! The room was comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Christmas getaway
Fantastic stay, close to all the highlights of york, could not fault the accommodation. Both of proprietors are amazing and make you very welcome. We stayed in dec and the place was nicely decorated for Christmas, the gingerbread scent in the hallway was lovely. The accommodation is very clean and tidy with all you need for a comfortable stay.

We had a wonderful stay at City Guest House. The location was wonderful, the breakfast was delicous and our room had everything we needed and more. The hosts were so friendly and accommodating, we look forward to staying with them in the future.

From the moment we got there too the moment we left, Alan and Julie were the perfect hosts. The rooms were bigger than expected with our own ensuite and extremely clean. The choice at breakfast was amazing and if you wanted something not on the table just ask and it will be produced. Everything was in easy walking distance with plenty of places to stop for coffee and cake, Including Betty's which is a must. We are at the local tapas bar Ambience, food was amazing and staff very friendly. So much to do in York, and the City guest house is the perfect place to stay

Great location,just 2 minute walk from York minster and the city. Nice double room, en suite. Impeccably clean and tidy. Breakfast was fantastic, selection of fruit,cereals yoghurt etc. and a full English. Limited amount of parking available which was a great bonus. Highly recommended and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Seemed to be a few returning guests whilst I was there,which is no surprise. And finally, what fantastic hosts in Alan and Julie. Lovely couple who are only too happy to help with transport queries,locations etc. Great weekend.

Julie and Alan were such lovely, thoughtful and kind hosts who made me feel very welcome. My room was comfortable and quiet with great facilities. It was easy to find and in a great walking distance location to all attractions and fabulous restaurants, pubs and cafes. Breakfast was delicious with lots of wonderful choices. We spent a lovely three days at this amazing location in York. So close to everything, located in Monkgate, this terrace home is beautifully decorated and comfortable. Alan and Julie are absolutely spot on hosts, from greeting you at the door and taking your luggage to your room for you, to providing a great breakfast each morning. Every morning Julie entertains her visitors with funny stories, and is happy to advise local attractions. If we are ever in York again, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a room at City Guest House!

Wonderful hostess and host. They were very welcoming, helpful and showed a genuine interest in finding out how my day had been. It seemed that they really cared that I was having a good time during my stay in York. The location is fantastic if you are looking to be just a little bit outside of the city centre. Not even a five minute walk to get to the historic part of York. Here it was nice and quiet in the evening. I really enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay here again if I were to return to York.

I really enjoyed my stay here. A warm & welcoming house. The hosts went out of their way to provide everything needed from delicious breakfast choices to a comfortable & clean room . This is a rare thing nowadays when the focus is on big corporate hotels & soul less rooms. Alan & Julie add the personal touch. The house is located within a 10 minute walk of local shops & restaurants.
