Carpenter's Cottage is an immaculate, compact, comfortable and well - equipped little gem located in the centre of Pocklington; it was very convenient for good local shops, pubs and cafes, and for accessing surrounding areas with walks from the door. The private off-road parking is very useful or you can just as easily park on the road outside. Helen and Patrick were lovely hosts, welcoming and helpful, and we very much appreciated the blue free range eggs from Gladys, Agnes, Mavis and Phyllis who seemed to enjoy our company in the beautiful garden. When the sun shines in the morning the colours and reflections from the stained glass window in the bedroom are truly beautiful. The Bean cafe, a couple of minutes away, is most excellent - I enjoyed a turmeric latte with a huge slice of meltingly fresh apricot, orange and carrot cake which must rival anything seen on GBBO. We used the cottage as a base to catch up with old friends and visit old haunts in the area and staying here was ideal.
