Nice break
Well situated for the centre of pocklington and the nice bars and cafes. Also easy access by foot to the wolds. Only slight issue would be the footpath to the side as can sound like someone next door until you realise it. Hosts very welcoming and offered good advice. Also nice to see the workshop

Very cosy
Has a lovely few days over Christmas in Carpenter's cottage, it's a beautiful cosy little cottage in a prime place for access to the centre of Pocklington, very well equipped with everything you would need including a lovely log burner which is very welcoming when it's cold outside. Helen and Patrick were lovely and friendly and we knew they were on hand if we needed anything. I'm sure we'll be visiting again in the not too distant future.

A spot of heaven in an English village.
Our 27 day stay was too short! We are full-time travelers and we know the value of a place that has everything you need: delightful hosts, good wifi, comfortable seating, good transportation hub and a kitchen to do simple meals. The cottage is cozy but not cramped. Patrick and Helen looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed and greeted us with a very warm welcome. We also got to enjoy their lush garden. The village itself provided restaurants, bakeries, butcher, etc. (We especially enjoyed Somali Indian.) Our trip to the Yorkshire Dales is one of the highlights of our 7 1/2 journey! York itself was history and fun. Eat at Betty's Tea Restaurant! Patrick is very knowledgeable about local and York history. The bottom line---you will be very pleased with your decision to stay at Carpenter's Cottage

Perfect Property
This cottage was the best part of our UK trip! Patrick & Helen gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful. The cottage was equipped with everything and was clean and cozy. It’s location was perfect right in the heart of Pocklington and the travel to York was about a 40 minute direct bus ride with the bus stop being less than a 10 minute walk. Highly recommend if you are considering this property!

Great cottage, very welcoming owners. Very convenient location. Had great time.
Very comfortable cottage with lovely touches like the stained glass window in the bedroom. The owners could not have been more helpful and provided lovely eggs from their own hens. All in all a five star stay.

Fantastic. Can't recommend it highly enough.
A truly wonderful converted stable in a lovely little town. Comfortable and cosy, spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. The owners are welcoming and friendly, as are their chickens whose eggs were delicious. Breakfast in their lovely garden was a real treat. All the facilities you could ask for are a short walk away, and lovely countryside only a little further on; and it's a great base for exploring Yorkshire's many delights.

Carpenter’s cottage was welcoming, warm and clean. It was peaceful and met our needs perfectly.
Helen and Patrick were perfect hosts: very welcoming, kind and available but allowing us to have a quiet and peaceful holiday. We loved the fresh eggs from their hens. The cottage is very endearing and has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There were added touches such as hand crafted furniture by Patrick that made it all the more characterful. From our cottage we were able to walk into Pocklington which had some lovely cafes and shops to explore. We enjoyed Burnby Hall gardens despite the weather and York was easily accessible by bus. We would highly recommend a stay at this cottage and will definitely book here again, we are already looking at dates!

Fab u Lous Darling!!
Patrick and Helen were excellent hosts and the cottage has everything needed for a short or extended break. Great location with easy access to York, Castle Howard and stunning countryside. The log burner was a big hit with us after long cold days visiting the city and Castle Howard. We have no negative comments at all. Brian and Steph x

Another great stay
We have recently spent 3 nights here. It was perfect for us, close to lovely walking/cycling areas and also near the centre of Pocklington. The cottage had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful. This was our 2nd time here and we will be back again, so much to see and do in the area plus knowing you have a lovely cottage to come home to.

Fabulous
Had a great week at 'Carpenter's Cottage. It was home from home and everything u needed was at hand even the use of owners garden were you can talk to the chickens and we also got to taste their eggs ❤️ A beautiful wood burner stove for cosy nights in with a large supply of wood for your use. Everything was immaculately clean and there was a supply of towels, soap, shampoo, shower gel, toilet rolls etc. Plus a great selection of books to read. Good secure off road parking and 100 Metre walk you are in the town of Pocklington with lots of lovely shops, restaurants, cafes and Burnley Hall Gardens were you can spend a lovely day walking round the lily ponds and gardens and then enjoy a lovely meal or coffee or ice-cream in the lovely restaurant . Very convenient for visiting York were you can get the bus or use the handy 'park and ride' to save you worrying about where to park your car costing us £9.80 approx. Helen and Patrick are very friendly and are very close by but also giving u your own space, if you need anything were nothing is a bother.

An enjoyable week in a lovely place
Carpenter's Cottage is an immaculate, compact, comfortable and well - equipped little gem located in the centre of Pocklington; it was very convenient for good local shops, pubs and cafes, and for accessing surrounding areas with walks from the door. The private off-road parking is very useful or you can just as easily park on the road outside. Helen and Patrick were lovely hosts, welcoming and helpful, and we very much appreciated the blue free range eggs from Gladys, Agnes, Mavis and Phyllis who seemed to enjoy our company in the beautiful garden. When the sun shines in the morning the colours and reflections from the stained glass window in the bedroom are truly beautiful. The Bean cafe, a couple of minutes away, is most excellent - I enjoyed a turmeric latte with a huge slice of meltingly fresh apricot, orange and carrot cake which must rival anything seen on GBBO. We used the cottage as a base to catch up with old friends and visit old haunts in the area and staying here was ideal.

Cottage and location just perfect
The cottage is cosy and in the best meaning of the word: comfortable; warm and relaxing. Ideal for a couple. It is spotlessly clean with clear attention to detail from the owners: fresh flowers; a handwritten welcome note and a box of eggs from their lovely chickens. Helpful additions include: milk; tea bags; coffee; cooking oils; condiments; shower/bath gel and shampoo and all matters for dish and clothes washing. The owners, Helen and Patrick, make you very welcome when you arrive and assure you of their availability throughout your stay. They provide helpful tips on places to visit. They provide total access to their garden. Their chickens are an absolute delight and make regular visits if you sit outside on the patio. The place itself is located for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds (check the map for exact entry points and places to park); Bempton Cliffs (RSPB nature reserve £4 per adult for non members) is just over an hour's drive but worthy just to see the cute Puffins!! Pocklington Canal is a lovely walk and the Canal Head is in Pocklington opposite the Wellington Pub! Pocklington is a lovely little town with plenty of cafes; pubs/restaurants and a couple of rather nice chippys! Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous cottage within easy reach of York
Carpenters cottage was very cosy and spotlessly clean, Helen and Patrick have thought about every detail, the lovely log burner and comfy recliners in the living room area was a welcome treat after a long day on our feet, the bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfy, another bonus was the secure parking if you want to leave your car for the day and take advantage of the park and ride, thankyou for the delicious eggs from your free range chickens, we hope to be back soon

Amazing hidden little gem of a cottage relaxing break within 2 mins of Pocklington town centre.
Hidden little gem in Pocklington near York. Look no further it's a fantastic cosy relaxing cottage ideal for a get away from it all break. Lovely little private courtyard with table and chairs and an area to park your car. The stained glass window in the bedroom adds a lovely feature to the cottage. The guest book speaks volumes and guests who have returned time and time again. We shall definitely return. A very warm welcome from the owners Helen and Patrick from the lovely fresh eggs from their chickens, milk in the fridge, personalised welcome card logs for the log burner to name but a few things we honestly could not fault anything. Relax on the recliners next to the log burner in the lounge. You are within a 2 minutes stroll of Pocklington town centre shops cafés restaurents butchers chemist takeaways deli pubs banks etc... Local bus service into York or use Yorks park and ride. If you are looking for a break away just outside York this is the place to be. We just loved Carpenters Cottage.
