This was a very nice hotel, the best of the four hotels we had this summer around Britain. It is very conveniently located, in easy walking distance to the railway station (even with luggage, and there is a shortcut with ramps to roll the suitcases: the hotel is essentially on one side of the old city wall, and the railway station on the other), as well as in walking distance to the city center and its sights. The breakfast was included, and was good, so the price was very reasonable. The rooms were nice, bright, modern and with a good view. If we come again to York, we certainly will use this hotel again, it comes with our full recommendations.

A nice clean room in a good location. Unfortunately we were disturbed by other guests during the night. I asked the other guests to be quiet and after the third attempt at 1am they settled. Frustrating given I’m staying with a child who wakes up early. Having spent around £240 for the one night, I was hoping for a better experience, and more considerate clientele. Unfortunately breakfast didn’t live up to the price tag either. Mass cooked scrambled egg was the only egg option. The Apple juice was very watery. Even my son who loves apple juice didn’t like it. He did however enjoy the waffle machine, although a full plate of untouched food was removed from our table while we were preparing a waffle. Food waste is a particular concern for me and I was very upset that a plate so obviously untouched was removed, and disposed of. Staff were pleasant and courteous. In fact a manager overheard the feedback I was giving to the receptionist this morning and came out of her office to speak to me personally. I feel there should be an upper limit to what can be charged for the product on offer, despite it being a race weekend. If the prices go up for race weekend, maybe there’s budget for a nicer breakfast too? I feel there is a greedy policy in place here and I find it off putting.

Nice hotel which is centrally located in york and close to the station. Breakfast buffet worked well for us, a few different options but quite basic. Main issue was the comfort of the bed. We travelled with a little one and before leaving was looking for a lost toy and noticed the bed was simply a plank of wood. My wife complained of a bad back each morning and its not surprising really.

Property ideal for local attractions and station. Near historic centre. Parking at NCP ok but felt a bit isolated in the evening and quite expensive (even with hotel discount). Hotel room very nice and breakfast ok (thought bacon and sausages could be better). Overall, a pleasant stay for what we needed.

Breakfast was not good enough with restricted choices. Taste was not satisfactory to us a family. Kitchen staff were not available for any help. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

The hotel was excellent and the staff were all very professional and knowledgeable. The only downside was other guests, possibly from a coach, making excessive noise around 6 AM. Very annoying at that time of morning.
