Monkbridge House was such a great place to stay on our visit to York, beautiful rooms, with everything you need, fabulous breakfast choice. Great hosts. Amazingly convenient for safe private parking and less than 10mins away from entering the city walls and all the great sites.

Trip to York
Booked a couple of nights here as its close to the north end of York. Comes with free parking space which is great as parking in York isnt good. Met at the door by the owner who showed us up to our room. Room was lovely. No restaurant on site but there are any number within a few minutes walk. Breakfast was included and what can you say other tham amazing. Great place for a short stay in York.

Room 5 not suitable for a nights sleep due to noise from the road and dogs barking at a business from across the road. Disappointed given the low occupancy to be placed adjacent to other guests. Asked about a room upgrade prior to arrival but communication ignored. Good breakfast but still waiting for toast, ask for a garden or rear room as windows totally inadequate at the front of the property and a good nights sleep is a basic expectation.

A home from home.
Fiona and Paul were amazing hosts, the breakfast was spectacular on both days, the little touches with the complimentary sherry in the room, the hand-made soap alongside the home made butter/jams were all lovely. Can't wait to go back!

The best in York, maybe the best anywhere.
We stayed with Paul and Fiona for just the one night on our trip back from Scotland, but what an absolute gem of a B&B in the lovely city of York. There was parking (a tricky thing to find in York at all) a beautiful house and garden, warm welcome and overall an absolute fantastic place to stay. The rooms are impeccably clean, tastefully decorated and have really nice extra touches like home made biscuits, a make up removal flannel in the en-suite and even a well stocked fridge. It's situated only a 10/15 minute walk from the main shopping and sightseeing of York, but just far enough away it's quiet and peaceful. The breakfast served was one of the best I've had, the quality of the sausages and bread, the excellent cooking and wonderful dining room, it all added up to such a wonderful stay that I wish had been longer, next time though, we certainly know where we'll be booking.

It was unique to stay in a Victorian era townhouse. The proprietors are very well organized and welcoming. The food is delicious, varied, and many items are homemade. They cater to all sorts of diets and tastes. I am not vegan, tried the plant-based sausage, which was excellent. They were also helpful in their sightseeing and travel recommendations. Since it is an old, historic property, there are stairs to climb, which could be a problem for some people. They were very helpful in bringing the bags upstairs.

Our 2 night stop in Monkbridge House was perfect. Lovely place with wonderful owners. The rooms were spacious and spotless. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, homemade butter, jams and bread, plus cereals pastries etc and the best Full English I’ve ever had.
