The space
The space is open with a big breakfast bar, perfect for soaking up your morning coffee or watching the sunset over dinner. 360 degree views highlight the desert mountains in all directions. Take in the sunrise from the front and watch the stars from the bedroom or backyard nook. Desert wildlife can be seen from every window in the house - jackrabbits, roadrunners, chipmunks, lizards, and plenty of birds are living their best life at Casa Flamingo.
About the Area:
Flamingo Heights is the most centrally-located area in the hi-desert. Some of our favorite spots are below!
- Local hiking: about 2 minutes to the west of Casa Flamingo, you'll find 600 acres of public (Bureau of Land Management - BLM) land located off of Kickapoo Trail. We'll help you find it!
- La Copine: 2 minutes from Casa Flamingo, the high desert foodie's gem serves up fresh and inspired food and hand-curated beer & wine.
- Giant Rock Meeting Room: pick up your morning coffee and delicious local pastries just across the road. Weekend evenings offer pizza and live music/movies outdoors.
- Joshua Tree National Park: Casa Flamingo is located an easy 15-minutes to Joshua Tree town (where you'll find Natural Sister's Cafe, Joshua Tree Coffee Co., yoga, and more). Just 5 minutes up Park Blvd is the main entrance and visitor center for the national park.
- Pioneertown & Pappy & Harriet's: Take the most beautiful drive in the hi-desert, down scenic Pipes Canyon Road, to the world-famous old western film set and the best BBQ in town.
- Integratron & Giant Rock: The magical Integratron Soundbath, and the nearby free-standing "Giant Rock" boulder, are just up the road. Offering outdoor soundbaths at the moment.
- Grocery stores, mini markets, and gas stations are all within a quick drive for your convenience

Guest access
While you're staying at Casa Flamingo, the entire home will be your private oasis. Soak in the 5 acres of local flora, fauna, and incredible views!
Beds & Bath
There is one bedroom with magical views and Casper bedding, as well as a full size pullout bed with memory foam mattress in the living area. The space works well for a couple, small family, or close group of 4. Each room has it's own A/C & heater for your comfort.
The full bathroom includes a tub + shower and all of the necessities (i.e. shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Q-Tips, cotton swabs, and blow dryer). Note: the bathroom is quite small, and may be tight if you are staying with 4 guests.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need to cook or bake, as well as olive oil, coconut oil, salt, pepper, and basic spices. We keep a water filter and ice cubes filled for your convenience. Coffee and tea are always provided.
Driving & Parking
The property is located about 4 minutes up a dirt road and is easily accessible by compact car. There is ample parking on the property and 3 dirt "spaces" just off of the driveway.
Other things to note
Other things to note:
- As with most houses in the area, Casa Flamingo has a septic system (not city sewage). Please do not flush any items other than the toilet paper provided. We do have municipal water and electricity (some homes in the area are entirely off-grid).
- The desert is home to many critters. While we use an eco exterminator, it is not uncommon that you’d see insects or animals. Please keep the doors closed and use windows for ventilation.
- While we allow small pets, the area is full of coyotes and you will need to keep a close watch on your furry friends.
