Typical for older building. Check in was easy. Unfortunately, the A\C or any airflow was not working and in a room with windows that donā€™t open. my room was ground floor & opened directly on to Main Street. I ended up opening my front door and wedging open the back door just for airflow. Clearly problematic given I had a Direct line of sight from cars or people Walking by from my bed. Did not sleep well as a result. My only solace was going to be a hot shower in the morning and unfortunately after 10 minutes after waiting for the hot water, it never warmed up. I informed them early in the morning of both of these issues with hope they could at least fix the hot water before checking out. Unfortunately, the shower water was still cold and when I asked the front desk he said that the maintenance did not see anything wrong with either. Unhelpful. I ended up taking a shower at my sonā€™s dorm. I instead politely asked for them to waive my room fee or give me a significant discount and ended up making this request via email to the manager and further cited another posted review similar review left by someone that must have stayed in the room the following night). Unfortunately, my reply was very unprofessional and perhaps one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever experienced.

Beautiful Inn in Granville with a storied history. Easy walking distance to restaurants and Denison. Unfortunately, during our one night stay on a 90 degree day the air conditioning failed and since we checked in later in the evening, it was too late to speak with the front desk after arriving back from dinner. No fan, no way to open windows, and we didnā€™t want to sleep on the street level with the door open. We later learned a pipe broke and was forcing steam into the room. It was 80 degrees according to the thermostat! Luckily we showered quite early, and we were lucky we did, because the water was promptly shut off - without notice. The broken pipe caused a problem in the basement, so shutting the water off was the only option. The response from the front desk was, ā€œold house problems.ā€ Wouldā€™ve been nice to receive some sort of concession, but the only option was to head out.

This was my first time staying at The Buxton. I wish I had tried it before. It was quiet, well lit, and very comfortable. The staff always asked if everything was good or if you needed anything! I would stay there again when in the area!!

Room 9 definitely lives up to its ghostly reputation. The ghost cat pounced on us. The room filled with the smell of gardenias, and our EMF detector would get set off immediately. It was a great night!
