Cruise out across the Bay of Islands for 2 days of classic adventure. This voyage gives you spectacular views of the North Island's coast as you try target shooting, dusk fishing, night kayaking, or snorkelling, and learn about the area from your vessel's knowledgeable crew.
Day 1 Step aboard The Rock, a former car ferry converted into New Zealand's biggest houseboat, in the late afternoon, and then grab a drink as you cruise out to the islands. You can try some target shooting along the way and, once you've anchored in a sheltered bay, go fishing in the evening light.
After a delicious buffet dinner, where you can have your catch baked right there by our crew, you can choose to go kayaking at night and marvel at the phosphorescence in the water. Lie back for a stargazing session as your guide points out the constellations, planets, and galaxies in the sky above. If you're still up for action, jump in the sea for a nighttime swim before you settle in for a drink by the fire.
Day 2 Watch the spectacular sunrise at sea before the breakfast bell, and then dine on a traditional kiwi meal before you get underway to explore the islands. Go kayaking, try your hand on the paddle boards, snorkel, gather some fresh seafood, and enjoy a guided hike across the islands to find stunning vantage points.
If conditions allow, you can gather a few mussels from the kelp-covered outer reefs to enjoy on the way home. After some free time to enjoy the remote beaches and play a game of beach cricket or volleyball, dine one last time on the homeward cruise and watch out for the abundant marine and bird life before you arrive back at Paihia wharf in midafternoon.
