What you can expect

Where the Great Barrier Reef fringes the Coral Coast, the Daintree Rainforest meets the shore. On this full-day tour, see why the combination of tropical forest, pristine white-sand beaches, and luminous, life-filled waters have earned this region World Heritage status.

Head north along the Captain Cook Highway to the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Site. At your first stop, the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas, walk along elevated boardwalks as you see the flora, fauna, and characteristics of the area's 3 primary ecosystems—rainforests, wetlands, and grasslands. Enjoy morning tea before you continue to Daintree National Park.

A quick ferry ride shuttles you across the Daintree River to the northern section of the park and Cape Tribulation. Birdsong and jungle sounds surround you as you enjoy a fresh, flavourful lunch.

Next, on the picture-perfect Cape Tribulation beach, stroll along the shore with the sand between your toes or stick to the boardwalk as you explore the headlands. At the Alexandra Lookout, take in sweeping vistas over the Daintree River and the Coral Sea. The final leg of your adventure is a boat ride along the Daintree River. Float through the mangroves and watch for movement in the swampy waters. You might spot a powerful python or the swishing, scaly tail of a crocodile.

George our driver and guide was amazing! He knew so much. He is Aboriginal spoke his own language and of course English. He could name all the trees and plants on the nature walk. He told some of his stories as well a lot about the development of the northern coast. It was almost informative tour. The 12hours was very well spent. Highly recommend. A lot of time travelling but worth it.

Had an amazing, enthusiastic guide who kept us entertained despite the bad weather we were unfortunate enough to experience. It would have been spectacular under sunny skies, but even in the rain it was still a special experience.

This was definitely my favorite tour on my Australia trip. I highly suggest calling ahead and asking when Matt is leading the tour - you won't regret it! He is extremely friendly and tells lots of jokes on the drive! He talked intermittently throughout the drive about things we looked at along the way and also took photos for us. The wildlife sanctuary was AWESOME! You have ~1.5 hours there to look at animals - opportunities to feed kangaroos and wallabies ($2 for food; sanctuary is open with a long path so they come right up to you if you have food). After this, you get into the Daintree, lunch is provided ~ mid day and you are allowed ~45 minutes to walk along Cape Tribulation beach area. Then the bush walk which was very informative - many plants and surprises here! After the walk on the way out, if time permits, you may stop for local ice cream. Make sure to bring CASH ~$5 AUD. After this, you head back towards the ferry entrance and jump on the river cruise to look for crocs.
