What you can expect

Start your tour at the Semperoper which is the opera house and concert hall. It is also home to the Semperoper Ballett and is located near the Elbe River in the historic centre of Dresden.

Next, you will visit the Dresden Cathedral, which was previously the Catholic Church of the Royal Court of Saxony (in German “Katholische Hofkirche”).

As we continue, you will then walk through the Zwinger Palace, built in Baroque style and designed by court architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann. The location was formerly part of the Dresden fortress of which the outer wall is conserved.

Visit the Dresden Castle (Royal Palace) which is one of the oldest buildings in Dresden. Continue on to the Augustus Bridge, which was built between 1907 and 1910.

Next you will walk through Schlossplatz, a square which is home to the Neues Schloss which was built between 1746 and 1807. From its construction until the mid-1800s it was used as a military parade ground and not open to the general public.

You will then visit Brühl's Terrace, which is a historic architectural ensemble. Nicknamed “The Balcony of Europe”, the terrace stretches high above the shore of the river Elbe.

Finally, visit the Dresden Frauenkirche, a Lutheran church. The old church was replaced in the 18th century by a larger Baroque Lutheran building.
