What you can expect

Walk through the lush historic glaciated rainforest in Westland Tai Poutini National Park, spotting the huge rata, rimu trees and moss. During the walk your guide will provide informative commentary on glaciation, geothermology geology, flora and fauna. Dip your hand into a geothermal spring to feel nature up close.

Take in the views of upper Fox Glacier, Fox Neve, and Mount Tasman, one of New Zealand's highest mountains. Due to the location, you won't get up close to the terminal face of the glacier, this walk is predominantly focused on the stunning nature in the Fox Glacier Valley.

Upon completion of the walk, your guide will drop you back to your accommodation.

We had such a lovely informative friendly tour. Jake our guide was so helpful and showed us so much on our walk that we wouldn’t have otherwise noticed. We went to see a glacier, which was awesome but saw and learnt so much more. Thank you Jake

The tour was excellent, our guide, Tyler was very knowledgeable and all went according to plan. The trail through verdant woodland to the glacier was very scenic with a wide variety of trees and shrubs. Our guide explained many fascinating features of the plants and geology. He helped me through some of the difficult undulating terrain.

Our guide, Jake was a very experienced guide with both knowledge about nature and knowledge about people. Our walk, and conversation were groomed for the particular group. Amazing paths through the rain forest and rubble from landslides.

We liked that it was a small group. The guide was fun and informative. The beautiful surroundings and sunny weather made the day! Loved coffee break on the riverbed, took a lot of photos of the “magical” forest, the river and the glacier. Drive was about 25 mins one way, then walk for about 3 hours. They could provide hiking shoes and rain gear, if you don’t have yours.
