What you can expect

At the indicated time we will meet at the Cologne Central Station and take a train that will take us to the westernmost city in Germany: Aachen.

After an hour of travel, we will leave the station and begin a guided tour of the historic centre of Aachen. First, we will cross one of the entrances to the medieval wall, Marschiertor, which dates back to the 13th century. As we walk through the streets of the old town, we will delight in the aroma of the pastry shops dedicated to the famous Printen cookies. They have become an emblem!

Finally, we will reach the Aachen Cathedral and its Treasury, a colossal monumental complex with origins dating back to the 8th century. You will be amazed! And do you want to know the relationship of this temple with the former king of the Franks? We will learn all about its history at the next stop: the Charlemagne Centre.

Next, we will contemplate the building par excellence of Carolingian architecture, the famous Aachen Town Hall, and we will pass by the bourgeois house converted into the Couven Museum and the picturesque doll fountain, the most famous in the German city.

We will end this tour in the most important tourist centre in 18th century Europe: the Elisenbrunnen building. After that, you will have an hour and a half of free time to continue exploring Aachen on your own.

Finally, we will meet the guide again to take the train back to Cologne.
