The caves are accessible to those with reasonable mobility, as there are good handrails and paths. There is no wheelchair access.
Caves average at a temperature of 16-17 degrees Celsius year-round.
Boat tour capacity is up to 23 people.
We stay dry; the tour does not involve using a wet suit or abseiling or river rapids, it’s very easy.
Tours are suitable for people of all ages and average fitness. Our scenic walks are short and optional. Please let our guide know at check in if you have any fitness concerns.

We can accommodate a stroller or a pram, provided it is fully collapsible and can fit in the luggage compartment of our buses.

Bring a camera or a phone with camera capability as these locations are the perfect place to get some great travel photos.
No photography is permitted inside the Waitomo caves, and cameras and Go Pros cannot be taken on the tour.
Photography is permitted in Ruakuri Cave.
No backpacks or large bags allowed in cave due to delicate formations.
Easy and good fitness level required.
This is a guided walking tour and sensible walking footwear is recommended.
You must be able to climb and descend stairs and walk on unpaved or uneven terrain.

The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Situated five minutes from central Rotorua, Te Puia is an iconic destination for visitors featuring the world famous Pohutu Geyser, Māori cultural performances, live Kiwi, boiling mud pools, native bush and the National Schools of Wood Carving and Weaving. The Hobbiton Film Set Tour is where Peter Jackson filmed his famous Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies. Once we arrive, you spend 30-45 mins shopping in the official Hobbiton Gift Shop and grabbing a drink or a bite in the famous Shire’s Rest Cafe. Fall in love with the Alexander family sheep farm, just as acclaimed director Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey through the unequivocal beauty of the land, with the mighty Kaimai Ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will then escort you around the set, showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the film magic was made.
