This castle is also widely known by its other name, White Heron Bird, due to its elegant exterior with unified white walls. Himeji is an important transport hub in western Japan, and in 1600 the daimyo Terumasa Ikeda, who became the castle's lord, demolished the old castle in this area and built a new one from the following year to 1609. The structures and buildings of Himeji Castle that remain today date back to this time, and are surrounded by double moats, both inside and outside. The large castle tower has a 5-layer roof and 6 floors and 1 basement floor. The licensed guide will give you an explanation in English. Please be ready to take off your shoes inside the castle.

Will visit the Kokoen garden after Himeji Castle visit. The gardens on the former western estate of Himeji Castle, known as Kokoen, were built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Himeji clan, and opened in 1992. The gardens are a stroll-style Japanese garden with a pond and a view of the World Heritage Site and National Treasure Himeji Castle.
