Lake Macquarie
  • 1h 30m
See wild kangaroos. Lake Macquarie, the largest coastal saltwater lake in Australia, is a stunning natural gem just south of Newcastle, NSW. Surrounded by lush bushland, scenic coastline, and charming towns, the region offers outdoor adventures like hiking, kayaking, and wildlife spotting. One of the most exciting experiences here is seeing wild kangaroos in their natural habitat. Several bushland reserves and open grassy areas provide ideal settings for kangaroo sightings, especially in the early morning and late afternoon when they are most active. While sightings can't be guaranteed, every tour so far has been lucky enough to spot these incredible creatures. Visitors can watch them hop across fields or rest in the shade, but we do not feed or touch them, ensuring their natural behaviours remain undisturbed. Lake Macquarie’s breathtaking landscapes and thriving wildlife make it an unforgettable destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
