Overview
The 5-day Kansai WIDE Area Pass from JR West helps you save on travelling within Kansai! Get five days' worth of unlimited rides on the Sanyo Shinkansen, local trains, Kyoto Tango Railway, Chizu Express, Wakayama Electric Railway, and West JR Bus in the valid area. This pass is available only for those entering Japan on a Temporary Visitor visa.
The Kansai region is comprised of Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Wakayama, Mie, and Shiga Prefectures, all of which have their own charms!
Description
The Kansai WIDE Area Excursion Pass helps you save money while exploring the Kansai region in western Japan, home to some of Japan's most popular tourist areas. Enjoy the beauty of Kansai for 5 days with unlimited rides on the Sanyo Shinkansen (selected sections of the route only), JR West trains (local, rapid, special rapid, and Limited Express) and buses, as well as selected private railways.
What's included, what's not
Know before you book
- This pass is only valid for those holding non-Japanese passports and with a Temporary Visitor visa under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.
- Foreign residents in Japan, whether working, participating in a study-abroad programme, or such, are not eligible for this pass. Anyone ineligible who is found using this pass will be fined for misuse.
- Only one e-ticket per passport can be exchanged at a time. Individual customers are not allowed to purchase or exchange more than one of the same ticket for the same use period
- Multiple people are not allowed to share a ticket; the ticket is valid only for the person whose name is indicated on it
- Seats may be reserved for free at a green ticket-vending machine or a station ticket office
- The product is a pre-booking. After your reservation is confirmed, a confirmation email will be sent from experiences-travel-guest-jp@faq.rakuten.co.jp. This email will include the actual tickets, so please make sure to check it. We may require you to respond to our email.
- Infants (ages 1–5) and babies (younger) travel for free on JR trains except in the following cases, when a child ticket is required:
- 1: When 3 or more infants accompany 1 adult or child (an Adult or Child rail pass holder can bring up to 2 infants for free) 2: When an infant or baby occupies a reserved seat, Green Car seat or berth, etc. 3: When an infant travels alone
- Please note that there is no exchange office in the Kanto area (including Tokyo)
