Lucerne is probably the most famous Swiss city. Surrounded by mountains and at the end of Lake Lucerne, the city is the starting point for numerous excursions.
The Lucerne cityscape is characterised by the covered, medieval Chapel Bridge, which, with its gable paintings, is one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe.
