Mauthausen was a concentration camp located in Austria during World War II. It was one of the largest and most brutal camps in the Nazi concentration camp system. Originally established in 1938 and was primarily used for political prisoners, resistance fighters, and other “undesirables” such as Jews, homosexuals, and disabled individuals.
