Dancing in Sardinia has many meanings: it creates relationships, a festive atmosphere, fun, music, friendship and it is also love and courtship. Nowadays there are hundreds of cultural and folk associations and almost all Sardinians try their traditional dances. Experience the true face of the island, book your Sardinian dance class!

The three typical dances of Sardinia are:

  • Ballu tundu (also simply called Ballu): it is a joyful dance that is performed at virtually any party, festival or event. It is performed holding hands with arms tight and folded on the elbows, making a double step more cadence of the right foot. The dancers are arranged in a circle from which a couple that dances stands out in turn. It is variously performed with different instruments such as launeddas, the organ, the harmonica, the accordion and sometimes also with the guitar
    guitar
  • Passu Torrau: this dance finds its main place in Barbagia and there is no Sardinian who does not sing a song with these notes. It involves steps forward into which you insert “the race”, a series of steps forward followed by the return on the previous step and “the entrance” with a bow. Originally born with different instruments: diatonic organ, accordion, mouth harmonica, trunfa
  • Dillu: dance originating from the countries of Orune and Bitti, consists of a single movement that consists of two jumps on the right foot and two on the left foot
